Aatrox and Kayle Lore questions. Is she getting a rework coming up next?
I've been so invested in listening to the lore behind Aatrox's new voicelines (also please don't remove the sh*t part, comedy gold I tell you) great VO, may I say, though most may hate it, I get the cocky, confident barbaric warrior vibe he's supposed to have and he's executed it quite well. Anyway, I sort of wanted to ask a couple of questions regarding the Darkin story arc as well as a potential rework on Kayle's lore if ever she'd be getting a VGU.
- ** Are we going to finally find out how the Darkin were trapped in their weapons? **
There's a lot of confusion about which region of Runeterra really did win the war against the Darkin. We were told that an ascended "Golden Queen" was the one responsible for imprisoning the Darkin, making it seem as though Shurima and its Ascended were the ones leading the war against said Darkin, but with the new voicelines of Aatrox, it's evident that the Targonians play a bigger role in the fight against Aatrox and co. most specifically the aspects of War and Twilight. So who really did imprison the Darkin and most importantly, what did the Aspect of Twilight do with all of this?
- ** Were Darkin friend or foe? What did they want with Runeterra?**
It's pretty evident that the Darkin didn't come to Runeterra in order to colonize it or destroy it. I'll make reference to Necrit's theory on the Darkin that their homeworld might have actually been taken over by the void and looked to Runeterra for aid. It's pretty evident that that's the case (props to you Necrit), we sort of see that Aatrox, when talking to a void creature, sort of asks if they are his 'destiny', and he says this in a resigned manner before the "sh*t" part. This immediately tells me that the Darkin are well acquainted with the void and only strengthens the theory that they came to Runeterra in order to find a way to stop the void, hence Aatrox's clear relationship with the Targonians, who might have been known for their fight against the void with Aurelion-Sol and all, especially Pantheon and Zoe (her Aspect mostly). But what doesn't make sense is how Varus' comic mentions how Runeterrans once knelt before them, maybe out of fear and there was a revolt? I'm really not quite sure.
It's sort of sad when you think about it, how the Darkin came in search of aid and though they even taught the Runeterrans of their blood magic, they were betrayed and immediately slaughtered and imprisoned.
- ** Kayle getting a rework? What is her connection with the Darkin? Is she the Golden Queen?**
I'm really curious as to why Aatrox had more than one voiceline against her making it as if there's a relationship between Kayle , Morgana and the Darkin. As far as we know, Kayle and Morgana are of a different ancient race that's going through a tireless war. My theory is that this war was against the Darkin, and though Kayle herself had to become Ascended (maybe a version in their world?) to rid the Darkin of their world, Morgana being the outcast that she is sided with the Darkin against her sister. I'm guessing this is pretty evident with the way Aatrox talks to Morgana, questioning her on her choices and decisions as if they've known each other ages ago. But then again, this is just a personal theory. Who knows, maybe they'll make Morg and Kayle darkin or something (pls don't) and scrap the angelic race thing, but I personally hope that they won't. Also, please rework Kayle next she's practically begging for it.
Lore Suggestion:
I think that to make the Darkin story arc more interesting, you'd have to make a Darkin betray the other four. I'd imagine through the Darkin-Runeterran War one of the other two Darkin, I'm thinking of the sister that was supposed to be in Shurima, might have decided to fight for Runeterra, maybe because she was promised the power to rid her homeworld of the void by the Targonians or something, and ultimately getting betrayed and imprisoned herself. I'm not really quite sure about this suggestion though seeing as we have tens of story arcs about being betrayed and looking for vengeance (looking at you, Kalista, Nautilus and Pyke). I just thought that this would bring so much color to the Darkin story arc, them being a broken, but deadly race.
I'd love for this to spark up a conversation so if any of you want to add something, please do :)
