Wouldn't it be cool if a mage-hunter champ would exist?

Like a Demacian that hunts every mage (no matter good or bad) because he has a hate of magic caused by a traumatic event at the hands of a dark mage, and he now hates every mage, and arms himself with Petricite and Hextech weapons trying to eradicate magic (yes Ik Hextech is powered by magic crystals but it's using that as an energy source not as the power itself and ordinary people don't know it's powered by magical crystals). Wouldn't it be a cool idea? We don't have a character in League that actually hates magic no matter what.

How is this interesting? It's the complete opposite. It's just an extremely 1 dimensional idea for a character.

Probably because thematically we would want that character to have some sort of antimage kit and we already have Kassadin And Galio that fulfill that role.

(yes Ik Hextech is powered by magic crystals but it's using that as an energy source not as the power itself and ordinary people don't know it's powered by magical crystals).

What? where is it stated that "ordinary" people don't realize it runs on magical crystals? Aside from that anyone using hextech would know it's magical by nature and thus the character would still be a hypocrite.

You mean Vayne? xd Not exactly the same but along the same lines-- Some inhuman magic creature (I'm still convinced it was Evelynn) killed her parents, so she learned to fight and hunts down magical and monstrous things without discretion, spoiler warning, even killing her teacher and mother figure without hesitation upon discovering she has the ability to transform into one of these creatures.

I'd highly suggest reading into Vayne's lore if that's what you're looking for, especially the little story they did for her a while back around Galio's rework. Pretty good.

I am so sad that I am the only one who saw the irony in this. Galio

That would be amazing! Someone who in their core despises magic and kills every user of it... Something like a vampire hunter, just this time mage hunter...

Zapzya9/17/2018, 8:16:03 AM2 votes

That idea is so similar to Vayne they would likely never make another champion based around it. Maybe they would make a character like the climbers from Eye in the Abyss though.

Like many here already say a pure mage hunter from demacia would likely feel too similar to Vayne, even though Vayne hunts only those who practice "dark arts"(we don't really know what qualifies as dark though).

Besides Petricide weakens magic,so I'd say there is a good chance that it would also weaken the effectiveness of hextech devices,so arming the champ with both would feel rather counterproductive.

As far as i know, Kassadin was going to be the "Mage Hunter" of the league... that is why he does not mention the Void in his VO (he says "void" as the actual meaning of void) and says things like:

"Your magic is powerless against me!" https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/1/13/Kassadin.attack2.ogg/revision/latest?cb=20121127012545

Yeah! Saw a Skyrim mod called the way of the anti-mage or something there are cool ability ideas. Would LOVE to drain Anivia’s mana and steal AP from that little bastard Veigar!

I think one of the first questions we'd have to ask is what class is this mage hunter going to be?

For instance we could have a support with a ton of silences. We could have a bruiser that gets bonus MR based on the AD he builds. We could have an ADC with damage that scales based on his target's max mana. There's a lot of ways to go about this, so picking a role would be important.

YuGiHo9/17/2018, 5:41:50 PM1 votes

i think mages have enough to worry about, we dont need another champ designed to kill them right now.

just build item 3155 on any AD and you made it [sg-lulu]

That sounds like the Templars from Dragon Age, cool idea and the game certainly misses the Mage Slayer archetype. So yeah I agree, would like to see something like that.
