Why is her name Kai'Sa?

Ask Riot: Kai'Sa's V-Neck Suit - Nexus

Riot adressed some issues with the design of the character recently, but something I still don't understand is the origin of her void name: All void creatures have the same name layout (syllable'apostrophe'syllable), but the same does not go for the void-related humans e.g. Kassadin and Malzahar. So why is Kai'Sa the only exception? Riot made clear that she still is very much human, not corrupted by the influence of the void. Is Kai'Sa the name of the suit itself and has she forgotten her own name? Some kind of answer might very well be alluded to in-game and if so, please enlighten me!

Her real name is Kaisa. To the people of Shurima however she is not human anymore.

Get away from that... thing!

or

Beware the girl who came back a monster.

So they gave her the typical void-naming treatment.

Edit: Found a paragraph which describes it pretty well

They don’t know a thing about me. To them, I’m just something they do not want to face—a living, walking, fighting embodiment of what they fear most. I guess that’s why they added the mark to my name.

Ten years ago, I was only Kaisa—very much like Illi, hopeful about a future as limitless as the stars in the night sky. That future died the day the Void dragged me down.

Her birth name was Kaisa - 'In her tenth summer, the young girl Kaisa's destiny would be changed forever' - and the change to Kai'sa appears to reflect something of a misunderstanding or adoption of the common Void naming convention by other Shurimans that she may or may not have internalised. Riot have been a bit wishy-washy when asked about whether she actually thinks of herself as "Kai'sa" or if we're referring to her by the name other people mistakenly use for her.

Read the actual lore before you make a thread about a complaint of said lore.

Shurimans put apostrophes in things they find scary.

They did actually explain this

She knows what they call her-- how most people see her. In "The Girl Who Came Back" she points out that she has seen their fear 'scrawled across the mud walls' of villages... The fearful added the (Void) mark to her name. She says she was Kaisa when the Void dragged her down. In her head, that is the least of her problems with returning to the real world-- the correct spelling of her name. They are pronounced the same, however. As far as her appearance, the way she moves, her hyper-fast R 'Killer Instinct' even her silhouette would instill fear in the people of Shurima, especially for people who, for the most part, have just second and third hand knowledge of Kai'Sa. Seems only fitting that her legend would grow, people would boast of their encounters with her, telling their own versions. Some true, some embellished, some outright lies. But it is young Illi who has first hand knowledge of who she is, what she wants. It's doubtful her parents would believe her, though. To them, Kai'Sa is the monster who almost killed their little girl, before they drove it back into the Void. Hope that answers some questions. GLHF.

kaisa might be the name of the suit itself and she might just not remeber her name

Her name was originally Kaisa. She talks about it in her story beyond her biography as well.
