Jax Without The League

With all the lore revamping going on, I think it will be interesting to see how they try to maintain Jax's identity. His character is almost completely wrapped up in the League and IoW because, as his lore states, "It is seldom the case where a champion is defined by his actions after joining the League of Legends rather than before. Such is the case with Jax..." Jax was an incredible fighter who came out of nowhere and made a huge name for himself, so much so that people began to fear his presence would disrupt the League. When special restrictions were placed on him, he took up his lamppost as a protest, and he continued to win with it. When the sanctions were removed, he continued to use his lamppost, as a reminder of his unjust treatment. Notice why he takes up his most iconic feature - the lamppost. He doesn't do it to give himself a bigger challenge or because he is bored. He does it out of protest. This, I think, is the key to Jax's character: he embodies the underdog. He is nobody - we aren't even told where he is from. He defies all expectations, even having an impossibly short Judgment, and he has so much success that the entrenched powers are frightened of him. They try to hold him back, so he handicaps himself just to show them that he will find a way to succeed, with or without their approval. His defiance and success against all odds is what makes him a good character, in my opinion, and I don't think that the Lore guys will do away with it. I just don't know how they will manage to maintain it without the League. They will have to completely redo his backstory, and I hope they are able to keep this part of his character intact. I'm stumped, but does anyone more creative than me have an idea of how they could do that?

Id like to think this has been thought of, or at least will be worked upon eventually. I just hope that the change in lore keeps Jax's background approximately the same.

If they were creative enough to fix Jax, they wouldn't have to remove the league.

There can still be gladiator games, He probably belongs to one of them, like Alistar probably does now, Heck we could get an entire subset of the lore based on just the drama of the gladiator organization,

This is a benefit of not having everything revolve around one place or organization, everyone can do completely different things,

Made a post about this the other day already.

I'm not a writer, I just like sharing my stupid ideas. So here's my stupid idea for Jax:

Jax starts out as a street urchin, who learned that he not only had a knack for fighting, but that he could make enough money to feed himself doing it. As he gets older and more experienced, he gets to a point where he has "seen it all" and can best anyone who is daring/ drunk enough to challenge him. His notoriety attracts people from far and wide, barbarian warriors from the Freljord, retired Noxian and Demacian soldiers, everyone who thinks they are something feels they have to prove it by beating the unbeatable Jax. Eventually, his career takes a sudden turn when an embittered, grog-soaked pirate from Bilgewater pulls a blade on Jax. Almost instinctively, Jax looks around for something, ANYTHING to help him fend off this poor sport, when the closest thing to him was an old lamp post. With out thinking twice, he pulls it out, breaking it off by the base, which had been corroded by all the years of spilled booze from his spectators pooling around it. He was quick on his feet, faking left, then dashing right to avoid his assailants clumsy slashes until he brought his lamp down onto his opponents head with a loud bang, that sent shivers down the backs of onlookers.

He looked up, the crowd was cheering louder than ever, and he threw his arms up in victory. The celebration was short lived, as the town guards rushed to the scene. Jax backed away, and tried to explain what happened but the guards didn't appear to care.

"We have turned a blind eye to your little street performance for a long time, but today you have taken it too far. Jax, you stand accused of disturbing the peace, vandalism, and assault with a deadly weapon!"

The guards approached him, and with out time for even a single rational word or thought, Jax sprung to his feet to challenge them. The fight was quick, and after a few calculated moves, both guards were taken down before Jax realized what he was doing. Next thing he knew he was fighting his way through the whole city, and though the odds seemed impossible, his escape drew closer and closer. At the town gate, the guards organized themselves into a blockade, but fueled by his pride, he refused to let them win. Jax charged them head on, and before he could get close enough, the guards broke their ranks and panicked.

Jax began to slow down, and started to strut as he walked through the gate unopposed, he turned around and waved his lamp post over head as he gloated, loudly to the town "You will never take down the champ! Never!"
