Jax Without The League
With all the lore revamping going on, I think it will be interesting to see how they try to maintain Jax's identity. His character is almost completely wrapped up in the League and IoW because, as his lore states, "It is seldom the case where a champion is defined by his actions after joining the League of Legends rather than before. Such is the case with Jax..." Jax was an incredible fighter who came out of nowhere and made a huge name for himself, so much so that people began to fear his presence would disrupt the League. When special restrictions were placed on him, he took up his lamppost as a protest, and he continued to win with it. When the sanctions were removed, he continued to use his lamppost, as a reminder of his unjust treatment. Notice why he takes up his most iconic feature - the lamppost. He doesn't do it to give himself a bigger challenge or because he is bored. He does it out of protest. This, I think, is the key to Jax's character: he embodies the underdog. He is nobody - we aren't even told where he is from. He defies all expectations, even having an impossibly short Judgment, and he has so much success that the entrenched powers are frightened of him. They try to hold him back, so he handicaps himself just to show them that he will find a way to succeed, with or without their approval. His defiance and success against all odds is what makes him a good character, in my opinion, and I don't think that the Lore guys will do away with it. I just don't know how they will manage to maintain it without the League. They will have to completely redo his backstory, and I hope they are able to keep this part of his character intact. I'm stumped, but does anyone more creative than me have an idea of how they could do that?
