Regions that are missing Juggernauts
This is a post for people to suggest ideas or concepts for new Juggernaut champions.
There are Juggernaut Champions in the champion pools for the following regions as of this time of writing:
Demacia (
&
)
Shurima (
&
)
Noxus (
)
Zaun (
&
)
Bilgewater (
)
Freljord (
,
and
)
Shadow Isles (
&
)
The major factions that are missing Juggernauts in their champion pools then are Ionia, Mount Targon, Piltover and the Void. Remind me if there are any I'm missing, but I'm pretty sure that these and the above factions are the major regions as established in the lore of the game. New areas might be introduced, but for now, I'm going to keep the discussion to these 4 areas that are missing Juggernauts in their champion pools.
IDEAS FOR IONIA
Looking at Ionia, most of the champions that come from there are quick moving people with lots of mobility and dashes. The only one that could be considered slow (Aside from the ADCs anyway) would be
since he is a Tank (Warden being his Subclass). So the lack of a Juggernaut champion coming from Ionia could be attributed to the fact that most of the people are quick-moving, mobile champs. But, while it's certainly not a 1-to-1 matchup, Ionia obviously takes inspiration from Chinese and Japanese culture. (Feudal Era, Chinese Dynasties, etc.) So I'm thinking that the kind of design that could work for an Ionian Juggernaut might be based around the idea of a Samurai. You know, these kinds of guys:

The idea of some Ionian Warrior wearing this kind of armor would work thematically for the "Melee Titan" design Juggernauts are meant to have, as the heavy armor would logically slow him down. The armor would also provide the logical design of him being able to tank a large amount of damage as well. In terms of what weapon he could wield, I personally would take some cues from Auron of Final Fantasy X.
In that game, Auron wields large and heavy katanas, being a powerhouse with high amounts of HP and Strength for the party. (Sound familiar?) Many of them have the "Piercing" ability or break through armor (Where have we seen THAT before in Juggernaut Kits?). Many of his Overdrive/Limit Break attacks are powerful, heavy-hitting strikes. (Noticing a pattern here?)
So, I would say that a hypothetical Ionian Juggernaut could be a Samurai-type warrior of Ionia that wields a large, heavy two-handed Katana/Sword similar in design to that of a Zanbato. Zanbato are especially large, single-edged swords dating to the Heian period of historical Japan. Such a large weapon would match the theme of many of the Juggernauts wielding large, powerful weapons. Examples are
with his huge Axe,
has his huge Mace,
has his huge Club, etc.
Do you think that this idea could work for an Ionian Juggernaut? You are free to add your own ideas to this in the comments, or suggest something entirely different. I just figured that the above ideas would work in my personal opinion
IDEAS FOR MOUNT TARGON
There are those that have suggested that
or
, when they get reworked, get made into Juggernauts or something similar. While I'm not trying to downplay those that have suggested such things, I'm going to move forward with my own idea for a Targonian Juggernaut.
Mount Targon is heavily inspired by Mount Olympus and Greek Mythology in general. Ancient Greek Military often focused around combat between individuals, which lines up very well with the "Duelist" or "strong in 1V1 fights" theme that the Juggernauts often portray. The weapons they used were varied, so it's kind of difficult to nail down any particular kind of weapon that our hypothetical Juggernaut would use. Another thing you could take inspiration from for this Juggernaut concept is the Gladiators of ancient Rome. In various forms of popular media, the Gladiators are often portrayed as huge, buff guys, which lines up well with the "Melee Titan" theme once again.
Sure, when you say Gladiator, you probably think of this scene:

This is where I'm asking for input from my fellow community members. There's LOTS to take inspiration from, from the Mount Olympus/Greek mythology and the Gladiatorial aspect/inspiration here. What would you use to create a Juggernaut based on these ideas?
IDEAS FOR PILTOVER
In an older post of mine of a similar nature as this one, SatomiKun had the following basic idea for a Piltover Juggernaut: "Piltover could have some form of battle machine.... Maybe a hextech vehicle with heavy armor and weaponry, or someone wearing a heavy battle suit." -SatomiKun
That's probably a good start, considering the pseudo-futuristic nature or technological aspects that the Piltover champions often embody. I don't think it has to be LIMITED to that, but there would have to be some technological aspect to any Juggernaut (Or any other champion) that came from Piltover. You could take cues from Doomfist of Overwatch even, or any other number of "future" settings that have some big, hulking brutish character or being.
IDEAS FOR THE VOID
Many people have said that
is the Juggernaut champion for the Void. While he has some similarities (Sustain, Tankiness and potential for high damage output) until a VGU places him with them, he is NOT OFFICIALLY ONE. He is a "Specialist" or a champion that takes various aspects of nearly every main champion class, but combines them in such a way that he can't be positively nailed down as one type of champion or another. I know people will take flak with this explanation, but that's his OFFICIAL CLASSIFICATION!
It's obvious that the Void Juggernaut would have to be some monstrous being, probably Cthulhu-inspired or something similar or Lovecraftian. Other than that, I'm really drawing a blank for this one.
CONCLUSION
So while Ionia and Mount Targon have a largy library of things to draw inspiration from, it's these two regions, Piltover and the Void, that I think would need the most help in coming up with a Juggernaut-type champion.
Thanks for reading and I hope to read and enjoy your responses!
is as close as we need to a Piltover juggernaut and
