Ahri is one of the most popular champions in the game. She is strong right now. It is perfectly acceptable for a champion meeting these two criteria to receive roughly one skin per season. Given the rumors that a K-Pop group (BlackPink) will be singing the 2018 Worlds song, this skin is completely appropriate.

The thing is, Ahri was initially released with the release of the KR server. She was based off of Korean legends. She's THE Korean champ. Worlds is in Korea this year, the region known as the most dominant through league of legends history.
She should be commemorated somehow but I don't know if Popstar is it

Popular? Sure, she'll always be. Strong? That's what Riot chose themselves and I think overbuffing only because of popularity and skin selling (Ahri, Kha'Zix, Pyke, Lucian) is frustrating and disappointing as fuck.

Agreed but why is the theme called Popstar, when she got a Popstar skin in 2013? Cause from what we've seen so far Kai'sa's is called popstar which would lead the Eve, Akali and Ahri skins to also be called Popstar as they are all seen with a similar splash compilation.
What happens with her existing Popstar? We've never seen two skins on the same champion with the same name.
