So is Kayle an Ascended now?
Aatrox seemed to imply it with that line at her. Which is weird since she looks human under the helmet, and Ascended are usually animal people.

That will probably change with her VGU. I wouldn’t be surprised if she took on more bird-like characteristics after the rework, or perhaps her helmet will shield everything from view (similar to Azir) so all you can see are her wings.
That said, God-King Darius calls her an angel in his special interactions which just confuses me even more.
I took it as an implication to the updates to both Kayle and Morgana are due for.
I know that there is a "tip" on the loading screen that refers to people that fail to ascend too.

I suspect interesting changes coming to our two former angels.
He seemed to imply that Kayle has not yet ascended, but seeks to ascend.
Morgana may be a failed/improper ascended int he vein of Xerath.

I woulden't take anything riot says about Kayle or Morgana seriously for a while, for with the current lore power levels what we have is

As for where angels, demons and darkin appear in this tier list, has yet to be made clear by riot.
As far as Aatrox Short Bio and Interactions led me, Darkin are Void/Watcher-Corrupted Ascended, Kayle and Morgana were Ascended too. Aatrox didn't seem to think Kayle was worthy and also dislikes Morgana because she was able to retain her human form somehow and also was able to stay in Runeterra. While all other of the 5 canon Darkin were bound into the form of a weapon and were sealed.
The Morgana/Kayle VGU seems to be in the works after Akali/Nunu

Once honored defenders of Shurima against the Void, Aatrox and his brethren would eventually become an even greater threat to Runeterra, and were defeated only by cunning mortal sorcery. But after centuries of imprisonment, Aatrox was the first to find freedom once more, corrupting and transforming those foolish enough to try and wield the magical weapon that contained his essence. Now with stolen flesh, he walks Runeterra in a brutal approximation of his previous form, seeking an apocalyptic and long overdue vengeance.
He mentions Ascension but as far as we know Targonians are also way more powerful than the Runeterra based Shuriman ascendants. I'm wondering if mortals, if they serve Targon well enough, can ascend to become an Aspect and that's what Kayle failed to do. However, he also says that Morgana BOUND HERSELF to Runeterra, meaning she wasn't originally from here and Kayle is her sister (that's not gonna change... I hope). This means that maybe they were some sort of non-Targonian, non-Darkin race that can ascend to Targon but aren't from Runeterra.
Maybe Kayle and Morgana are just from Targon straight up. It could work on a Diablo like system where there are archangels who are insanely OP and all have their own purpose (like the Aspects) but there are also countless lesser angels as well, maybe that's what Kayle and Morgana are. Very interesting stuff.
Chances are with how things are looking that she and Morgana are going to become the other two Darkin of the only five left.
If Kayle is ascended,then I doubt its the same kind of asension as the ones of the shurimans.
I mean so far none of the ascended grew extra limbs,but Kayle got wings. So either Kayle was not human already when she ascended or she underwent a different kind of ascension.
Or she might be just related to the ascension in some way.
maybe when he said “ascended” he didn’t mean shurima’s Ascension status,maybe he meant ascended as in just she as herself is the first of her kind who will become the norm for her people in the future because she’s the cream of the crop.
Okay, maybe Kayle was a Baccai, a failed Ascended, who helped the Ascended fight against the Void. But when they were corrupted completely, she was only partially corrupted, and she was also bound to a weapon, but instead of being a demonic weapon, she became a half holy and half demonic weapon, a sword with a scale attached to it, like the Lady of Justice or whatever.
Then it was split in half. People holding the sword become Kayle, and people holding the chains of the scale become Morgana. Then, like with Varus, they can fuse, allowing Morgana or Kayle to either become a full Darkin, or become a true Ascended, like Kayn.
Angels aren't human, so this may imply that an angel could be an Ascended form
If the Ascended continue the Egyptian god thematic going, it wouldn't be too farfetched for Kayle to not be an animal person.

I'd assume Kayle is a mk II of whatever The Darkin were before they 'fell'.
