I just had a thought, the Lunar Empress skin could have easily been for Taliyah

I mean, it would give Taliyah a new skin that she has been waiting for, some good dress, for a start.

Her Q's 'worked ground' could probably be some kinda craters on the moon (or fancy clouds, whichever you prefer), while she's shooting stars out of her hands.
Her W could be a moon popping out of the ground to push people around.
I don't have much idea for E, but I'm sure people more creative than I am, and I'm sure that's like most people, can do something about it.
And the best part, her R could be literally building the Great Wall.
She can even have a magic trinket of sort that she throws onto the ground, which it would enlarge or shapeshift and act as a surf board for her passive; just like how many of the magical mounts work in Chinese mythos and fantasies.

What's not to like?

But instead it was Lux. Hmmm. Okay.

When I saw the teaser all I could think was "give me or Taliyah or give me death" then a Rioter burst into my home and executed me the next day.

A large thing with the Lunar Revel skins is the fact that they very largely are affected by WHAT chinese year it is. This is the year of the dog, which explain Warwick and Nasus?

But then why was Lux the Empress instead of Taliyah, Well for one thing you are correct Taliyah CAN fit in Chinese mythos, and that doesnt mean this Idea cant work, the Sacred Swords skins are chinese after all so Lunar skins arent the ONLY Chinese skins. However there is more to the skinline than Moons.

As for why Lux? IDK. I made a long post about it but what it comes to is at the very least IMO the only champions that I would expect to be mature enough and kind enough to raise 2 animals are Lux and the enchanter supports. As for ASOL that is 100% because it is not year of the dragon. It would make NO sense for him to be in Year of the Dog just because he needs a skin.

I personally believe that Taliyah and ASol are probably getting skins soon. Considering the fact there was no pool party last year I expect Taliyah to get one this year.

Edit: found this is another thread; "other champions that could have also made [less] sense [...] were not available due to having other skins already planned or [...] having either gameplay or full reworks coming up." Remember Riot said that they would release skins for champions they KNOW needed some, and Taliyah and ASol were DEFINITELY on that list. Im guessing they already picked at least some of the definite concepts around that time and are just waiting for the appropriate time to release them (as i said POOL PARTY TALIYAH)

I think many themes on Lux could fit for Taliyah, they are similar on some points ; and i honestly wish they could release a skin set with Taliyah, Lux and maybe Annie; perhaps Nami/Zoe/Lulu. something like Magic Apprentices. Or maybe Magic School Students. Something like that, it could be very cute, and sell well since Taliyah would be accompagnied by two high sales champions.

For the Lunar skin, i feel like they just forgot about Taliyah completely. As many pointed out the Lux skin is very similar to Elementalist so its perhaps some Elementalist left-overs. Maybe they looked into playrate. Maybe Taliyah is hard to animate. Maybe they just litteraly forget her.

I agree that Lux fits more as a "competent, born and raised princess" but they could have made Taliyah a sort of princess by defaut, who got into the role abruptly and has no idea what to do with these two titans surronding her. There was room for a big story if digged enough, and players would have been thousand times happier. I understand Lux fits the role and giving it for exemple, to Kalista or Zyra, for instance, could not fit; but Taliyah WOULD fit so they probably just forgot her imo.

Or she could have simply used Jadebased abilities and called her jade princess Taliyah.

I mean they didn't call Lux "lunar princess" because they wanted a moon princess,they simply wanted someone to act as the princess that gets protected by these 2 dog champs.

I really think Taliyah deserves better than this years Lunar revel skins. I guess there is a chance of getting two Taliyah skins this year. A regular one AND the SSG skin.

No. First, Taliyah is already getting a Samsung Galaxy skin because Crown chose her to receive it when his team won worlds; she also may be getting a Star Guardian skin as part of the next SG skin pack. Giving her a third skin when other champions get none is very unfair.

Second, Taliyah would never want to be an empress because she is against the very idea of having one--or any other monarch for that matter. Read her lore, wherein she races home from her training with Yasuo to protect her tribe from the risen emperor Azir; for he once brutally conquered all Shurima. Hear her lines when she lanes against him, declaring that "...an empire is nothing without the people!". Perhaps our teenage stoneweaver lacks the education and leisure to think of democracy, but she knows that tyranny is wrong and would want no part of it.
