After Feedback, This is the Final Product for GGMF (GGMF + Future Ult. Skin Discussion)
A change in the idle animation, glowing guns, and a slight splash art tweek...seriously?
The next patch update is going to be hitting next week, and GG MF is coming out the day after that, and this is all the change we get after the feedback?
OK look, I've made some rant posts about this skin already so people may already downvote this, but hear me out. If Riot is going to post the GG MF skin, fine. It's there decision for that. I'm still not happy that it wasn't given to a top laner, or was given to MF since she got SG not too long ago, but at the end of the day I can't really do anything outside of either complaining or giving constructive feedback, and while I still don't agree with it I've come to some terms of accepting Riot to post a super high priced & quality skin for MF.
What I can't come to terms with, though, is how the skin still feels low quality. Walk animation as far as I can tell is still near identical to base, Q is practically the same, as well as the crit animation and W. Hell her ult animation for her Royal Arms selection is basically her base ult animation. WHY? I'm not a huge gun expert but from what I've seen and feel, miniguns don't have that kind of recoil like firing duel wielding magnums in CoD.
"Well they need to make her recognizable with the animations." Really? We're going off of the Blitzcrank logic when he got his Paragon/Rogue Lancer skins and he had to remain walking dumb in an awesome skin? What about his Piltover Customs, or Battle Boss? Was he unrecognizable then with skins at the same tier quality as his Lancer skins? I will still make the argument that they could of just used the same animation from Battle Boss on those skins for the walk and it would of been fine.
Aren't Ultimate skins suppose to heavily have a unique set of animations to the champion anyway? I mean look at SP Udyr: he doesn't just have a different idle pose, he has a different walk animations, different animations when he runs or casts abilities, attack animations. Look at EL Lux: idle, walk, spell casts, feel more unique from her base animations.
I also wouldn't mind the skin so much if they gave more personality to her forms, instead of feeling like chromas. "But the guns change, have some unique animations and are the main focus." While that is true, to some extent, it doesn't mean the rest of her is given anything else. Take a look at her forms and yes she has different guns. But now take away those guns, look a second time and please tell me what differences you see.
At minimum, she loses her head gear from base, some cleavage on two of her forms, and gains a eyepatch on black hole. Outside of that though, they're chromas. Nothing else is given to MF to make her forms feel more unique from one another. The rig isn't slightly altered to be smoother or more mechanical, she doesn't have any helmets, visors or hats from her splash art, nothing. To bring it up again, EL Lux did this better: Each form had a unique look to it apart from the colors. They had different silhouettes, from their wands/staffs, dresses, hair style, collar/headpieces (whatever you call them).
"But it's a cheaper ultimate so that balances things out." Really!?!?! Near identical animations to base & forms that have no personality to them if you take away the guns dignifies a **Ultimate ** skin to be 475 RP cheaper than normal? At best this skin is Legendary material if Riot didn't include the built-in gun forms and even then I feel like previous Legendaries are better than this skin. Dunk Master Darius, Final Boss Veigar, Battlecast Skarner and Cho'Gath, all of these skins I feel are better in quality for their price than GG MF. So I'm basically paying 955 RP extra for a Legendary that doesn't even feel finished with its animations or its alternate looks.
There's no quotes to any additional champions in any of her forms (black hole shooter to Dark Star, Royal Arms to royal champs like Jarvan), no interactions with say PROJECT or Dreadnova (not even Dreadnova GP which I'm sure is suppose to be the man GG MF is looking for after leaving her dead on her planet after his raid there), that one complaint about her hair not flowing like in the splash, you seeing why many people and I are having issues with this skin?
While I still hate this choice of her, I kind of do wish this skin was just better. I do occasionally play MF and this would be a neat skin to have when I do play her, I'll admit that. But to see that we have very little changes from the problems that I listed, I feel like the skin was rushed out a month too soon (similar to EA and their games). I actually feel sorry for MF mains out there who aren't satisfied with the skin like I am and know its problems.
And with all of that, this now brings me to the topic of if other future Ultimate skins will be like this. Not necessarily the full priced ones (at least I hope not), but these new 2775 Ultimate skins Riot may think on doing in the future, taking what they already developed before and applying it here. Look, I'm perfectly fine if Riot wants to do this, maybe not every single Ultimate can bring something new and Riot wants to go back on a previous feature. Fine.
But if these skins are going to be of similar quality to what we're getting with GG MF, that makes me worried. These are still going to be fairly expensive skins and to see the first one launch with this kind of quality makes me uneasy for any more in the future for being similar. An ultimate should still have the quality of an ultimate, on levels with Lux and Udyr, not a half-assed overpriced Legendary that's clearly not done baking yet.
It's the end of the week, no more PBE updates over the weekend and during next week, we'll get the patch update and soon GG MF. And yet I'm utterly disappointed that for the latest Ultimate skin we're getting...this.
