Just read the new comic, and holy crap am I confused. Forgive me for being dense, but is he in a bromance with Kai, or are they gay? The original lore said he had a wife, or at least that's how I remembered it. Was Varus married to the red-haired lady?
No, Varus is a darkin. He just has two gay dudes chained up to him.

There was a lore change where they changed "Varus" to be a Darkin.
His lore is that there were 2 gay lovers in the ionian war and one of then got injured. The other brought him to what he thought was a healing shrine-thing, but it was Varus (the darkin)'s prison, where Varus (darkin) was released, and then possessed them both, fusing them into Varus (champion).
So technically Varus (champion) is Varus (darkin) + 2 gay people
"Varus" is the darkin that was imprisoned in the pit of Pallas.

So the best way I can wrap my head around this is. Varus is now a cimera composed of two gay hunters that form the body and the darkkin that is the bow and then they struggle for control of the body sometimes one of the hunters have it and then at other times the darkin has it...
