Lore Changes and the Map

I love a good story and when I first started playing League I dove into the lore, letting my nerdy self indulge itself in the stories of Runeterra. However, no more than a week later some patch(the Galio update comes to mind) dropped and effectively undid lore, and then again and again changing lore that I had read and loved. So my question is with the new Runeterra Map, kudo's by the way it looks great, why would I want to engage myself with it only to have the lore change again in some patch?

I don't mean to downplay the work of the dev's that spend time on this, it just seems like either they don't think the community cares about lore or they really hadn't flushed out a story. Anyways, am I the only one that feels this way?
