First, I want to say the "Confessions of a Broken Blade" by Ariel Lawrence is nothing short of amazing!!! I absolutely loved every bit of it, this could be from my bias because I have been patiently waiting for a lore update the finally connects the fate of Riven and Yasuo for a long time. The suspense I felt as I waited for Riven judgment on the Death of Elder Souma and wondering if Yasuo will finally forgive himself for being the "cause" of his death only to be surprised by the heart-warming interaction between the two broken fighters as they began understanding each other's pain as well as taking the first step towards atonement and redemption. This was just extremely amazing, seeing the love that both champions have grown to know towards the ones they care for and I am so grateful and happy that Riot found the time to write this and a big THANK YOU to Ariel Lawerence for such an amazing work...I love it!!!!

That being said I have a couple of questions for Riven and Yasuo:

  • Now that Riven has to atone for her crimes in Ionia, Is she then currently considered an Ionia resident?

  • Will the couples be considered somewhat as Riven's adopted parents?

  • As for Yasuo , he has finally found the truth to his master's death...where does his fate take him to now? (I'm going to assume that cannot be completely answered) is he also trying to forgive himself for killing his friends and brother? at what point will his journey come to an end?

  • Will either champions being getting any kind of small update based on this lore? (Visual or small change in their kits) Like Riven getting an Ionia themed visual update (if she's considered a resident now)

  • Will there more updates on them coming such as their interactions with other champions?

THANK YOU!!

I feel like, the big plot point for both of them together FINALLY got hit, so interactions between them is something where it'll only occur if...situations occur. You know, along the lines of the village being attacked, and she looks for him. The one thing that would draw them together has been solved and identified. They no longer have a need to cross paths again.

Yasuo came to terms with returning to the village to find out the truth. He--however--did not come to terms with those he had to kill in order to survive. That is where he is. He found his answer. That was all he lived and survived for. Now he must forgive himself, so he can live for himself once more.

Riven, on the otherhand, is in a precarious situation where I can't see her getting advancement in any direction from after the point we left her. She can have development, but it'll be a "slice of life" kind of moment if something serious doesn't occur to shake up the peace. Those villagers forgave her. She is willing to work and continue life as she did with the couple. She's spiritually free and found emotional closure. She has no reason to wander off. That is, not until she finished her sentence.

Then...and only then...may she return to Noxus.

Yeh, thank you for concluding Rivens initial character arc. We rarely get this in LoL and its really nice when we do get it (like with TF and Graves).

I'm a little sad, because while Riven's character arc has started an upward swing, Yasuo's has gone down. He found out the truth of Elder Souma's death and all it gave him was a deeper sense of guilt. If he'd been there, he could have stopped the flying shard (or so he thinks -- I think it's relatively clear in the narrative that the only one who blames him for what happened is himself).

I wanted them to come to some understanding and maybe exchange something like he and Taliyah did, but at least there's a way out for Yasuo if he can ever forgive himself.
