Nami's merpeople are missing their tidecaller
both fish out of water that appear to be from civilized underwater areas. Could runaway 
be the tidecaller in

Possibly.
But the entire region is a bit unexplained and could use a bit more in depth detail on everything. Like why did Fizz run away? What caused Nami's people to vanish, and why? What is that darkness that pulled Nautilus down? It could be the same thing as above.
There are just a few loose ends for that area that could use answering.
Doubt it,fizzs people all disapperead,wheras namis people are still alive and seem to do well.
Its not impossible,because if they have the same hometown then it could be possible that nami went on her quest and that their people disappeared while she was away,but I doubt it,since the 2 look so different and it would make namis quest kinda pointless.
I think it's pretty accepted that Nami is the Tidecaller. I mean when you have a move called "Tidecaller's Blessing" it can't really be in dispute.
I think the point of Nami's lore is that SHE is the actual Tidecaller even if she has not yet realized it.
Fizz is a mischievous little creep, don't try to make Tidecaller Fizz happen, it's not gonna happen.
God I hate Fizz!
