Should Pantheon be rewritten?

I do think Pantheon needs a rework, firstly. What that would entail, I don't know.

That aside, I think Pantheon's story should be rewritten ever so slightly so he can get additional lore-related voice lines. Atreus should live, not be completely overtaken by the Aspect. Every single other Aspect maintains their personality, and as a devoted Rakkoran it's not like it's is at odds with the god that inhabits him.

He needs a VGU, so I'm fine with this, but it's kind of interesting to have the Aspect of War be more... hostile in a sense?... to its hosts.

Assuming Pantheon's lore is rewritten, changes I would make to the lore:

  • Pantheon/ the Essence of war (as A. Sol refers to them) would be more like the 'speed force' similarly to how anyone using the speed force becomes a Flash/ speedster of some kind. Aspects tapped into the "essence of war" would become a part of Pantheon, with a hive-mind connection but each specific Aspect could retain their individuality. I think this could also explain, why the Aspect of War is less flashy than other Aspects in battle; because their power lies not in OP oneshots but the ability to accumulate armies of warriors with superior reflexes and weaponry. There are hints of this in the current lore but its really just theory. Tldr: Atreus mostly in charge and draws power from Pantheon.

OR

  • Atreus could very well become champion in his own right, once given a goal/ purpose/ connection that keeps him relevant to some major story arc. For example Atreus turning down Pantheon for 'x' reason, however Panth knowing Atreus is an important factor in a future battle, Panth curses/ blesses (that would depend on the reader) him and merges instead with a dying Pylas. In this version if you wanted Panth to seem 'nicer/ less of a dick', Panth being in control could be as a result of Pylas being close to death upon merging hence portions of his soul had already vacated his body and Panth is just barely keeping the body alive, and using him "hostage" until whatever battle passes so that Atreus will fight. Tldr: Pantheon possesses Pylas instead and Atreus becomes a champion

The both versions are extremes and unlikely but I'm just having fun with the idea of a rewrite. Even if I am biased to the Targonian Aspect Pantheon remaining. I'm not close-minded to possibility of changes to Panth's lore with his VGU and without a doubt it would be accompanied by tweaks to the Targon lore, just as there have been tweaks to other champions affiliated with the recently reworked champs.

It's all but outright stated that Atreus is going to wrest control back from Pantheon eventually, so I feel like a VGU would use his comeback as a story hook and make it a continuation of his current lore, rather than rewriting it.

Of course. The rewrite has nothing to do with the original character concept and adds those ridiculous space parasites to an archetype that has nothing to do with them.

The whole lot of it should be rewritten. I remember when the lore first was released and every other post on the forum was people complaining about it. Hell, on the Pantheon Mains board the only time the lore is brought up is when people complain about how bad it is.

I mean, they won’t change it. But it’d be great if they did.
