An Interesting Relationship I'd Like to See Explored...

Renekton and Azir. Whilst I eagerly look forward to the eventual showdown between Renekton and Nasus, and hopefully Renekton and Xerath, I think a meeting between these two would be just as interesting and emotional.

From Azir's point of view... By the time Azir returned fro the dead, Renekton had already been freed from the tomb and fled the scene, and so far as the lore shows us, Azir doesn't yet know that Renekton is still around. To most of the people of Shurima, Renekton is just a mythological figure from ancient history, but Azir _personally _ knew Renekton before the Fall. To the people of ancient Shurima, the Ascended were like superheroes, and the young Azir would have looked up to them as idols. Renekton was there was Azir's family were slain by assassins, and when Azir became emperor the Ascended brothers were likely among his closest companions and advisors. The lore doesn't explicitly show it, but Azir and Renekton were likely close friends. So how will Azir react when he learns that his childhood hero is still alive (yay! :D ) but utterly insane ( nooo!!)? Azir might think Renketon can still be saved, or maybe he thinks he is only a rabid dog that needs to be put down. Either way, the Ascended are a big part of old Shurima's culture and history, and if Azir want to return Shurima to its former glory, then he has to care about what happens to Renekton.

For the record, Azir has a few in-game interaction with Renekton, but they're not very informative. : "Renekton, once a noble warrior, now naught but a mad beast." : "You have forgotten yourself, Renekton."

From Renekton's point of view... Currently, Renekton's grasp of reality is tenuous at best. He can only vaguely recall events from his past, and didn't even remember Nasus' name until he saw it written down. Here is a quote from his story "Darkness Renews": > He (Renekton) remembers... visions of blood and betrayal, of titanic palaces and golden temples brought down in the blink of an eye. Centuries of progress undone for the sake of one man’s vanity and pride. Was it his? He does not know, but fears it might have been.

We, as readers, know that it was Azir's hubris and not Renekton's that brought down Shurima. If Renekton realises this, then he may want vengeance on Azir even more than Nasus. After all, it was Azir that sent the brothers away on that fateful day. On the flip side, Renekton was chosen by the sun to serve Shurima and the Ascended bloodline. With Azir and the Shuriman empire returning from the sands, maybe Azir can reignite Renekton's purpose, and help him remember the hero he once was instead of the beast he has become. It's also completely possible that Renekton does not at all connect the audacious golden bird person with the mortal emperor he vaguely remembers. Maybe the only thing Renekton will see in Azir is his potential for chicken nuggets.
