People are actually analysing the interaction video, but not the other voice lines

A lot of people always do this, always judging the interaction videos, which always shows one side of the character, like Rakan who everyone thought he just screams everything but when reading and listening to his actual lines, he does have feelings to his kind and Xayah.

When I first listened to Aatrox by his interactions, I did thought he just shouts a lot because he does love blood and carnage. But when I looked up his other voice lines, it showed a new light on Aatrox. Though it isn't the same as the old Aatrox, he becomes an actual character with depth to it other than shout and kill everyone.

Some quotes (from the league wiki) that I found most interesting

"I touched the stars... And saw the glorious light of a thousand suns... Now, blinded by this elegence, how could my purpose be anything... but dark..."

"I am but an unholy copy of life... A mockery of its freedom... And born in the cruel betrayal of the noble ideals I would've served."

"We had another name once... Now, we are Darkin."

"I march to death... Though I wish it was my own..."

"This cursed form... This crude decaying flesh! I loathe it!"

"Am I the abyss? Or did I gaze into it?"

"To war Aatrox! They shall not rob us of our nobility! We shall stand, and spit venom at our tormentors for eternity!"

So next time when a champion like Fiddlesticks Mordekaiser or Skarner gets updated, don't judge the interaction video that skinspotlights do. Listen and/or read each line, and analyse those voice lines instead, they reveal more than what the interactions videos do.

Yah, I put a long response on another post. But people fail to realize the placement of lines is a large part of what we do.
i.e. We know "Taunts" are most often triggered while hiding in brush with friends-- so this is great place for Aatrox to show a funnier side. We know an Enemy "flashing mastery" can be tilting-- so we can make that experience less toxic for the Aatrox player with a little burn. Alos Aatrox is mostly likely calm when he walking back from base to lane early game but seriously angry late game while attacking an enemy champion.

The number of lines relates to the experience and how fresh we want to keep it. (For example Jokes require more variance than serious lines. Also triggers that occur more often and/or in a more noticeable, less intense game state require more variance too.

Thanks for noticing the work![sg-kiko]

Yeah, I didn't understand why everyone were jumping to conclusions based on the interaction video. Champion interactions are almost always jokes or references to lore, no shit he appears angry or joking all the time.

You're right, but it came out much later than usual, and special interactions can be judged because they are a part of the character and they give insight in to how the new personality interacts with others. It's not everything, but it's not meaningless either.

i like the depth Aatrox has now he feels like a person (a demonic person but still) unlike old Aatrox who was just cryptic to be cryptic now i cant wait for when riot will update varus VO or at least add another darkin so we can learn more

I don't really give a shit if he's Shakespeare in stolen flesh. This VO completely ruins the character.

What people seem to not understand is that it's not the lines. It's the voice that's wrong with him. The voice actor sounds exactly like Rhaast, it's overly processed so you can't really make out what he is saying if you say hit a minion while he's talking or cast an ability. It's inaudible and overly goofy.

He doesn't sound like a towering titan of a monster. He sounds like a some generic Disney villain. I can't even tell how many times i've used this comparison by now.

I didn't judge his interactions as hard as others. I do enjoy his full script a lot more.

Skarner is the perfect champion to point to whenever this happens, there is almost nothing in the lines other players hear from him that even hints at him being nothing more an angry violent monster, it's only when you hear his lines while playing him that you understand that he has depth.

Looking at his voice lines on the Wiki, this Aatrox is actually a lot more somber than I originally believed; "I am but an unholy copy of life... A mockery of its freedom... And born in the cruel betrayal of the noble ideals I would've served." "How far I have fallen! A god... reduced to a prisoner!"

But most intresting to me is this line; "We march to battle... Let me carve flesh, let me cloak myself in the slaughter. Hide me in their carnage... Hide me from this suffering..." What this tells me is that Aatrox dosn't kill because he enjoys it (as Rhaast does), he kills to scare away the suffering. The suffering of knowing the monster he's become. [zombie-nunu-tears]
