An explanation for "Marksman" champions.
Basically, the better the character is at shooting, the less you have to do for them as the summoner who controls their attacks.
As such:
is not a gun-for-hire or a trained sniper, he's an explorer who gets dragged to the Rift. He has 3 skillshots.
is a shotgun-toatin' tough guy who relies on is strength while his buddy provides the brains. He has 2 skillshots and 1 ground target.
relies on silver-tipped arrows to destroy evil. She doesn't have skillshots because she only needs to graze the target to deal a lot of damage.
is actually not as good as she lets on, since she only took up the bow after randomly finding a magic one. To make up for what she lacks in precision, she fires a lot of arrows at once, or one giant arrow.
can hit headshots for extra damage from a distance on her own. While she does have 2 skillshots, those are for abilities that are unnatural additions to the weapon (her Q), or too cumbersome to even handle the recoil from (her net).
doesn't need to be too great a shot, since her weapon of choice has giant ammunition. Like Vayne she needs only to hit the target instead of care about where.
attacks the soul directly, and so only needs direction when the summoner may wish to damage multiple souls at once (q through multiple targets).
though a great pilot, doesn't have a machine advanced enough for targeted missiles.
Just some thoughts. I know I left some out, but I'd like to think Riot has reason behind their story in relation to kit design.
