@lore keepers, why does Jax still wield a lamp?

Title, prior the mass redcon, Jax's only reason the wielding a lamp was because he was too skilled a fighter to wield a weapon on the summoners rift which led to Jax dropping his weapon and picking up a random lantern which I can only imagine he saw in the room and decided to rip out of the ground to ask if he'd be allowed to wield that and fight instead.

So, why does Jax still wield his lamp instead of any conventional weapons?

Also as a small sidenote, do you think Jax carries the same lamp everywhere he goes, or rips one out of the ground prior to fighting, considering it has a pretty big clump of rock stuck underneat it.

It's assumed he carries his lamp-post wherever he goes. And the reason he uses the lamp-post is really poetic actually.

Jax tests warriors by handicapping himself. He wants to train elite fighters to fight the void with him and retake his homeland "Icathia" which was obliterated and is now home to an infestation of void horrors. Because Jax is unbelievably skilled and over 3,500 years old and has experience with every known weapon, he tries to give his opponents as much benefit as possible.

The lamppost has been dubbed is "The Last Light of Icathia" sort of a play on words yknow. :)

Yeah, why does he still have the lämp after the moth memes died out?

As many others have already pointed out, he wields it to handicap himself.

Personally, I believe the lamp post was one that Jax ripped out of the ground back in Icathia before it was consumed by the Void.

Now he carries it with him always as a memory of his former home and why he fights.

Because if he had a real weapon the game would already crash and jax would be the most broken champ in this game (which he might be even now).

He purposely handicaps himself so that fights are more challenging and interesting for him. He knows he doesn't need a real weapon to stay on par with even the most skilled opponents.

It's probably the same lamp post. You can only rip so many lamp posts out of the ground before people start getting upset.

He thinks it's cool.

It would be cool if it comes up he actually can't wield a real weapon.

I would make it a sort-of PTSD from the fall of Icathia.

Here's how I remember his lore:

When Jax first joined the League of Legends, he was so strong that he was nigh unbeatable. The administrators or whatever decided that he needed to be handicapped so it would be more fair to the others so they made him fight with a lamppost, as well as some other restrictions. Eventually everyone got closer to his level so they said he didn't have to fight restricted anymore, but he kept the lamppost as a sign of how much better he was.

But let's be honest, what weapon can Jax use?

It feels out of place to imagine him using anything but a lamp post

(I'm not saying he can't use other weapons, it's just weird)
