Was Pyke's name inspired from Game of Thrones?

Pyke (castle)

I am LOVING this new champion (what we've seen so far)! So good! The darker thematic along with the music and lore that's sure to come is thrilling! But being an avid Game of Thrones fan, I noticed that Pyke is very similar to the characterization of the Greyjoys in Game of Thrones.

  1. Their religion follows The **Drowned **God. Pyke (LoL champ) apparently drowns his victims.
  2. Their castle (and 1 of the islands of the Iron Islands) is named Pyke. Pyke's name is... Pyke.
  3. They're the closest thing Westeros has to **pirates **and/or Vikings because they pillage, plunder, etc. due to their lack of farming abilities. Bilgewater = pirates and merchants who trade because they do not produce on their own.

I am LOVING the similarities and am really hoping this is where you all found your muse!

Miss Fortune MissFortune is probably one of my favorite champs overall and I can NOT WAIT to see where you all take Bilgewater in the next few weeks! Gangplank Graves Illaoi TwistedFate Nautilus

Pyke's narrative writer here. While it's not a direct reference or inspiration in any way, we are obviously GoT fans. It's more of an homage to Mr. Martin and the constant badassery of GoT.

edit: plus we all just loved the name.

Right? Somewhere in the back of my mind i thought of GoT... He reminds of the infected that spread greyscale that sir jorah had :// and also he reminds me of the pirates somewhat

He should have a skin similar to Greywick. Grey Pyke. It would bring much joy to the GoT fans.

Pyke seems like a common surname, it has barely anything to do with GOT other our perceptions of them both revolving around water and drowning beliefs.

Name wise, I'm not sure they put as much thought it in as you think.

Pike is a fish that comes from the sea, plus pike is also a type of long weapon that 'heads' are displayed on after execution, he's kinda after the same thing. They changed a letter so it's the same sounding word.

Characterisation wise, dunno, don't watch GoT.
