Varus and Continuity.
I appreciate the lore. Honestly, it is breaking grounds, and turning heads. It is getting people talking. It holds true to Ionian and Runeterran cultural lore while giving us breathtaking immersion into the lives of the past of that world.
#BUT
Continuity is important. The character lacks continuity right now. His In-game dialogues are centered around the Old' Varus. The Old Varus is human. The new story and the current ingame Varus are not matching.
I think what needs to happen is 1 of 2 things, and fast:
A. Sound team needs to get the voice actor for Varus in a studio PRONTO and get the Dialogue to mesh properly to what his background entails, centering around the fact that he is Darkin and not a man "On Borrowed time", make him sound more villainous and flagrant instead of noble and valiant, and somehow include his inner conflict with Valmer and Kai [whether or not they actually have any dialogue is unimportant, just that this fact is transparent in his character].
##OR
B. EXPOUND upon the story created thus far where Valmer either defeat's the Darkin within and himself BECOMES Varus [making Arc Light Varus viable again] or update the story to the point where Varus realizes what he truely is [No longer 100% Darkin] and seeks to find a place for himself in this world (which would be more entertaining due to the conflict of struggle that could arise should Varus finally make contact with his kin).
I do not believe that the story as it is now should remain as is because, again, CONTINUITY IS BROKEN. He was not retconned properly. This story is left at a pre-climactic cliff-hanger on the likes of the movie "Inception" or Gasp "Cliff-Hanger", leaving us to have to formulate a meta for how he ends up as what he is on live servers.
How do I prove that I am a Varus fan?
Well, once upon a time, I wrote a short story that I had in a dream based on League of Legends near the Howling Abyss comprised of a team of 5 from some of my favorite characters.
and
, with Varus getting the most lines and action.
I wont bother looking for it because the story itself was based loosely on a dream and is probably terrible, but I liked the direction Varus had enough back then to basically make him the star hero. He is valiant, daring, agile, and strong. But more than that, he has/had values that made him a great leader.
Can this Varus be a "leader" like the old Varus?
I don't know any more. He just wants to kill humans.
Please, progress the story to the point where the climax happens. Valmer and Kai must either fail or succeed in destroying the consciousness of the Darkin, or at the very least, finding a way to neutralize him and contain him.
If 1 guy named Kayn can do it, I'm sure that 2 Heartlights with the blessings of the Ionian High Temple have as equally a chance, if not more, of succeeding against a Weakened, disembodied Darkin.
