The Riven and Yasuo story isn't as complete as you think...

There's still some unknowns left in the story, as well as an underlying conspiracy. Sure, Riven taking her sword to Elder Souma to break ended up with him exploding it and killing himself in the process clears Yasuo of the charges against him, since he didn't kill the elder - but it doesn't answer a few really glaring questions.

Why was there a cover up? ? The priests at the temple would have pieced together the story on seeing the blade Asa Konte brought, and seeing the metal shard that matched it that was pulled from Souma's neck and known it was this Noxian blade, and not Yasuo, who did the crime, yet they remained silent, even during Riven's trial.

We know that the bone scrubber who found the missing blade piece lodged in Souma's neck was distinctly told NOT to report it to the magistrates. There was a cover up involved in Elder Souma's death, and it was done to frame Yasuo.

So therein lies the big questions. Why? Why frame Yasuo? To what end does framing the pupil of Elder Souma achieve? Why send Yasuo's own brother against him, and pit them against each other in a duel to the death? Who was the real target there? Who are the priests at the temple working for, that they would orchestrate a framing and a crime like this?

There's quite a few unanswered questions here, and even though Yasuo is innocent of the crime now, someone in Ionia has been plotting against him. Who is it, and why? [sg-lux-2]

Edit: Some minor changes due to me forgetting that the blade was taken to the temple by Asa Konte 4 days before the trial.

It's obvious why. They didn't want Yasuo mains in their promos, so they framed him.

Presumably the same forces who helped get Jhin out were making their moves during the middle of the Noxos-Ionia war. You don't get that level of influence out of nowhere, so it's likely that maybe one of those would have been involved in the cover up.

This is an intriguing line of thought.

Simplest answer: They didn't want it revealed that a Noxian had managed to get into an Elder's room, so they let suspicion fall on a man who was already disliked.

It's also possible someone had a reason to want Souma or Yasuo out of the picture and decided it was as good a way as any to get rid of him.

Leblanc A classic misdirection.

If LeBlanc got to the right people at the right times before the invasion, then maybe she could have framed Yasuo, hoping it would distract and split his village and its warriors.

Well, let's presume there are more in Ionia than just Elder Souma's Wind Controlling Art, for example, fire, earth, water, metal, lightning, and cloud and so on and so forth.

Maybe one, or more of those forces are part of that hidden political group and so they covered it up in order to get rid of the last airbender.

Sounds like certain groups are playing the political field, and what better time with Ionia so ideologically fragmented?

Honestly, I think Yasuo and Riven are just collateral here, and the actual target was Elder Souma. Who has held political clout in Ionia from time immemorial? The Elders. Whose teachings oppose the social upheaval in Ionia? The Elders. They deny change by enforcing the status quo, just as Shen and the Kinkou do, change that could be quite lucrative for certain individuals who want to hold the nation's reins for once.

These underhanded pushes for sovereignty reek of Noxus philosophy, but with familiarity for Ionian culture only its people would know. It's the most insidious blow Noxus inflicted during its invasion without even knowing; they set in motion a change that persisted well beyond their time on Ionian soil.

Noxus lost the war, but it remains to be seen if Ionia won.

I believe they simply ignored the evidence they found regarding the blade shard. In Yasuo's lore, he's disliked by most in the village for being a bastard. His new comic conveys this as well.

My theory is that because they already believed it was Yasuo, they decided to ignore this evidence because it lead them nowhere. if they took that piece of evidence to heart,(if they could even discover its origins) then they would essentially be wrong about Yasuo's guilt, and that is probably a dishonor all on its own. It was more effective for Yasuo to pay for the crime, especially since he cut down several of his pursuers , one of them being his brother.

Thus, they kept their information to themselves, and kept hunting Yasuo.

He left the Elder alone even tho he was instructed not to leave his side. Sure Yasuo wayn't responsible for his death,but if he didn't leave his position the Elder might not have died.

Yasuo's didn't commit a crime,however, he did disobey orders.

This one is actually clear. To use Jhin's lore...

Jhin is a meticulous criminal psychopath who believes murder is art. Once an Ionian prisoner, but freed by shadowy elements within Ionia’s ruling council, the serial killer now works as their cabal's assassin. Using his gun as his paintbrush, Jhin creates works of artistic brutality, horrifying victims and onlookers.

So we know there's a group of people pulling the strings. It's likely they have some reason for keeping Yasuo at bay. If I had to guess: Imagine, if you will, the samurai of winds being on he run. Then all of a sudden, members of the Ionian council offer him a pardon/proof that he did nothing wrong in exchange for his loyalty.

Although he didn't kill his master, he killed the people who went after him, his brother included. His hands are dirty, he's not innocent at all anymore.

The story was great, but there will always be more lore to tell so deal with it yeah. If they would release a book about Yas & Rivein I would buy it and read it

I mean, they didn’t have the blade. Riven did. They confiscated it from her when she was arrested.

Yeah, you're right, OP. The story isn't complete, it is far from being complete.

Yasuo and Riven haven't got married, they haven't had a child, the child hasn't grown up and go out to create a world of their own, and Yasuo and Riven haven't passed away from old age while sitting on their 2 rocking chairs and holding hands in front of the fireplace...

First and foremost, we know that Yasuo does not fit their morals/societal standards because he is, as we know, a bastard child. This alone would be motive enough for anyone to cover up the truth and blame the “bastard” village child that everuone hates because he is a natural prodigy of the wind skills. However, with all the political shenanigans and underground organizations, it’s plausible that it was easier to kill teo birds in one stoke blame yasuo while hiding the noxus infiltration or that lb is reaching into other regions towards ultimate domination.
