Just throwin' that out there. Is there going to be a second Shurima event where he re-Ascends to help Azir, Nasus, and the Targonians defend Runeterra against the Void when the second coming that's been hinted at occurs?

Maybe change his base skin to his Ascended form kinda how they changed Gangplank's base to his one-armed-with-a-stupid-hat look.

It'd make sense of why they were trapped instead of killed if they're needed to fight the second coming of the Void that the Aspect of Twilight would've known about.

I think on the AMA it was said he and any other Darkin would probably just want to kill Azir. Although if Azir could give them their old bodies back, they might be swayed. I think it'd be neat if they found their old purpose again after centuries of ruining everything followed by millennia of paying for ruining everything. It'd definitely be better than the cycle they're currently in that benefits zero people. (Honestly, in what universe is making your enemies unkillable and still capable of causing harm considered a good idea?)

As for Swain, it's very possible he's prepping for Mordekaiser. Dude wants that Bastion back.

Even if Azir returns, I'm afraid Aatrox has already settled for destroying all of existence.

Aatrox is a completely different personality than the man who was chosen to Ascend and defend Shurima. All of his humanity was ripped out of him and was allowed to die, when his heart was ripped out and the Void and Ascended essence was locked away in a sword.

Like, his soul left his body and is in whatever afterlife is in LoL, but his body is being driven around by an angry void creature.

Then of course there's the demon invasion Swain seems to know about, if the thing he's preparing for isn't also just the return of the Void.

His ascended form is Justicar, iirc

Welp I don`t think that would happen since some genious decided that trapping them and making them lose their minds beyond recovery is a very good idea.

He's so far gone he probably doesn't even care. The Emperor of Shurima was such a prestigious title back in the day that even the Ascended which were basically the manifestation of gods on earth revered and followed them and all of the Emperors were men not ascended. That has to be the equivalent of being Alexander the Great or Caesar at their zenith. Better than kings better than gods. Now Azir has returned along with the Shuriman Capital and is ascended to boot. Old Aatrox would have been in awe, new Aatrox would probably on the surface try to kill Azir but in his inner monologue later on he would be ashamed of what he has become.

It's either that Azir helps Darkins stabilize their bodies or even return to their old glorious forms and hopefully they will help with the void and other things, or they will just destroy him and everything he stands for because its in rheir way. :/
