What if the "Chained Champ" is actually the "Chaining Champ"?

I originally saw the image as an imprisoned figure with his back to the camera, but from a certain angle it looks like the champ is facing the camera and holding the chains in his hands.

  • The champs left foot is extended forward, supporting his frame and providing a forward facing profile.

  • The limp positioning of the chains suggests the champ is holding them out in front, rather than behind where his body weight would naturally shift against them.

  • The chains lie slackened on the ground and oddly exhibit very little tension towards the shadowed figure. This lack of resistance may suggest the hidden individual being in control of the restraints.

  • The white stone suggests this is a Demacian location. They are known for taking extreme measures against magic and such. Perhaps this new champ is a Jailer/ Inquisitor that can finally shed some light on the less glorious qualities of Demacian society

Reav3 refered to the champion as chained champion in one of his reddit comments so I don’t believe it’s someone doing the imprisoning but rather it’s the prisoner themself.

Honestly that seems pretty obvious to me.

I always thought they showed off the chains because they are part of the character,meaning that the champ will likely use them in battle in some form.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if they are also the very chains that are used to imprison him.

Why not both? What if they were imprisoned with the chains, then broke them in some way, and now uses them in battle to chain their enemies?

I guess that this champion ripped of the chains he or she was bound to out of their bracing and now uses them to beat the living shit out of those who oppose him/her. That is probably also the reason why the chains have no real tension and appear to be in his control. He/she was a restrained prisoner, but not anymore.

I'm also pretty sure that, even though this appears to be Demacia, those chains dont seem to be made of petricide (which is normally white) and even if it was petricide doesn't just cancel magic it merely weakens it if used in low amounts. Remember, petricide does neither work like Kryptonide nor Kairoseki (sea stone from One Piece). This is most likely not a mage at least not in the traditional sense. It's probably either a prisoner of war, now out for vengeance or maybe even a former Demacian soldier, warlord, commander or whatever, who went insane in prison and broke free.

Or maybe even the true Jarvan IV who was locked up by LeBlanc (you guys remember that conspiracy?), was imprisoned for so long that he forgot who he was and is now out to find out who he is. Yes, I know that is farfetched but I would love it if that was the case ^^

What if this champ's title is "Chains of Heaven"? Specifically in Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu was tasked by the Gods for bringing Gilgamesh in line because he started doing things how he wanted and ignored bringing offerings to the Gods that created him and put him in charge.

The champion in question looks to be in a Demacian prison and the shackles may indicate they're holding a mage from going on the loose. But it could also be that he's Demacian and the "anti-magic chains" are his weapon of choice. If he's a prisoner, then he could be one of the old rogue mages that was the reason why people founded Demacia in the first place.

I think this champion might be related to Galio, the chains in the picture look like they are made of Petricite which is the material Galio is also made of and that gives him the power to eat magic. It has been confirmed that this champion is a mage so the chains being made of Petricite would explain the lack of tension because Petricite does not allow this prisoner to cast magic which is his main weapons. Im thinking it may be Galio's rival as in Galio's lore, he wakes only when someone is casting powerful magic, I recently read Galio's lore and perhaps this champion may be a noxian prisoner that has been kept in Demacia after the war where Galio intervened, Im thinking this may be Galio's rival as to Garen/Darius, Riven/Yasuo, Kassadin/Malzahar. It's just my opinion from what I could see in the picture but it would be pretty cool!!

I think the chains are most likely going to be somewhat of a thematic for the new Morgana visuals. After all, Soul Shackles is the name of one of her abilities, it makes sense.

All I can say, is that if you look close enough, It looks like it has hooves. I think its something like a Satyr, I would say its a Minotaur since the chains match Alistar's almost perfectly but there is already a Minotaur and Alistar's lore says that the rest of his clan was killed and hes the last alive. It makes me think that this is either something from a similar tribe, or something akin to a separate species with similar features.
