A question about Talon's new lore to Rioters, is it a whole change or just improvement?

I'm sorry if it sounds rude. We don't even know if you started working on it! Just wondering if General Du Couteau will still be the breaking point of Talon's lore, or is it gonna be a new bio with a different direction. Sorry again, if i'm asking a question that is not supposed to be asked. And thanks for looking even if it is!

Also to the people who are familiar with Talon's lore, would you like it to be changed and take a different approach to Talon? Or do you think he still should be the boy that grew up in the streets of Noxus and obedient to the General to the end?

The goal with every existing champion is "to add and clarify" where possible, as opposed to change. That's doubly true if said champion is not getting a VGU at the time. :-)

Ooh thank you so much for this. I've been keeping track on the issue!

Basically, I agree with what was said. The lore will be modernized as most of Talon's lore and purpose was linked to his 'joining the League to find General Du Couteau', followed by the last Journal of Justice entries (around issue 27), where he effectively investigates the case. Here's a somewhat detailed summary of the conspiracy. [x]

The Institute of War is gone, and Noxus has a new setting, the High Command is now the Trifarix and according to the snippet released last year for his lore, he currently takes orders from them.

Talon's loyalty and obsession with his 'cause' are basically the core of his character. Without that, he isn't the champion we know.

Hopefully, we will learn more about Du Couteau's fate and his situation before disappearing. I think the powerplay between Swain and LeBlanc will be a key factor in this. Was Du Couteau a friend/supporter of Swain? Or was he somehow sided with LeBlanc?

We have some quotes about this, Urgot states "I hope your father begged when Swain betrayed him.“ when taunting Katarina.

And then Swain going "Do they know who killed your father, or do they still blame me?”

And the most confusing one, Swain to Katarina "He asked her to do what she could not. To kill me.”

In summary, my guess is the_ modernization_ of the lore will be something like "Talon accepting to work for the Trifarix to discover the shadows responsible for Du Couteau's fate." Either as a payment for his blades (this would lead him to be a sort of mercenary who gets paid in favors/contacts/information instead of gold.

Or, working for the Trifarix under the conviction he knows he is now serving Noxus in the same way Du Couteau had, to honor his name, finding a new purpose there. This would sort of imply the General's death has been cleared.

I honestly prefer the first one.

PS: Lewanor, I know you are in the R/ Talonmains (I'm there too, I remember we went into the Swain AMA asking about this :B)

I feel like they are only going to modernize it.

In s new lore they mention how Katarina and her dad aren't on good terms anymore and how her father would start to train others instead of her,which sounds to me a lot like Talon is going to be Katarinas replacement in the new lore.

And adding to this,the fact that Swain mentions the death/disappearance of Katas dead in his VO,it is likely that this is going to remain canon as well.

The only thing that will likely change is the relationship between him and Katarina.

I'd love if they modernize it and increase the relationships he has with other champs. Like, even ingame, he barely has any interactions with any other Noxian champions like Kat or Cass. I would love if they branched out his interactions with other Noxian champs in his lore, maybe even Demacian ones like Quinn.

I believe the best way to update his lore would be to modernize it! Giving talon some new in gamer interactions would be a good step in the right direction! Having him investigate the general's death and thus the black rose could create an interesting dynamic between him and Leblanc! Other champs for interactions that would come to mind are Katarina, Cassiopeia, Swain, Darius, and Quinn! Maybe we could even get a whole new story involving his training under the general, who knows? The possibilities are certainly there and as a talon main I strongly feel him and katarina are due for some kind of in game interactions update and a lore update for Talon!
