The Unsupported Speculation Thread

NotaRobot1006·3/7/2019, 5:26:31 AM·13 votes·10,635 views

I'm interested in hearing peoples' fan theories that might not have a lot of canon support. Or might have no canon support. All that really matters is that you think they're neat. I'll start with an example:

Rhaast was a Baccai who survived by being really good at killing things.

Since we have very little canon info on either the Baccai or Rhaast, this theory has next to nothing backing it up. In fact, it may very well have negative canon support. That's what I'm looking for here. Go nuts.

Surfer Singed is canon.

Zaun is near the sea, it's perfectly possible.

(Not mine) Aatrox : Someone on the Boards (can't remember their name) speculated that Aatrox's animal form before the fall of Shurima might have been a horned owl.

Annie : Tibbers is a demon that originally possessed Annie's mom, Amoline the Witch, but after seeing it slowly kill her family, she transferred it over to Annie in order to protect her from it's wrath, killing herself in the process (which would it explain why Amoline suddenly disappeared). Tibbers, as it did with Amoline, then proceeded to slowly kill those around Annie, and will continue to kill anyone that ever grows close to Annie.

(Not mine) DrMundo : Yet another person on the Boards speculated that Dr. Mundo might be corrupted by Evelynn to some extent, which explains both why he's purple, as well as his odd fascination with pain.

Gragas : Gragas hails from the same unknown kingdom that Kalista and Hecarim is from.

Shaco : Originally belonged to Vladimir before he was given away to the Darkin. Vladimir corrupted Shaco into what he is now when he returned to his father's kingdom.

Mordekaiser & Sion & Urgot : Are not actually humans, but ogres (due to their massive size and brutish features). Ogres would be some of the first mortals on the planet, and the ancestors of mankind. Today, ogres are severely diminished in number, and can only be found in Eastern Valoran as part of the Noxian Empire. They share the Empire's belief in strength above all else, and they often enjoy a high status due to their abundance of it.

Edit: Changed the ogre "theory" a bit to be more plausible.

My theory: Jinx is the reason why Warwick wanted to change his life and quit being a criminal.

Something happened in Jinx' past that made her snap. My idea is that Warwick (when he was still a human criminal) encountered her, maybe he was trying to rob her or even worse. This situation lead to a huge catastrophy in Zaun (this place is packed with chemicals, a stray bullet can have terrible results), many people died that day and Jinx went insane because of this.

She was blaming herself, since if she hadn't fought back, this wouldn't have happened. That's the reason for Swains quote towards her. "Faces in the flames, it was all her fault."

Warwick blamed himself, too, since his selfish crimes killed so many people. He felt remorse and wanted to change, become an honest man. But Singed captured him and turned him into a beast. When he was still a man, he had contradicting feelings towards Jinx. On one hand, he wanted to forget what happened that day. "You were there..." "Let me forget!" On the other hand, he wanted to apologize to Jinx for what he had done. And since both live in Zaun, he may have been closer to her than he thought. "She was closer than he realised."

I hope we get the whole mystery surrounding Warwick, Jinx, Vi and all the other champs tied in here solved some day....

Mordekaiser 's mace Nightfall is a darkin he enslaved by overpowering it. The Darkin is more or less fine with this since Morde slaughtered thousands upon thousands of people with the mace, or the darkin conscience in the mace is completely gone.

TahmKench is the reason for Annie terrible childhood. Amoline went to the river to bargain for her family health but part of that bargain later claim Daisy life as well.

Ashe and Sejuani will follow in predecessors' footsteps, leading to Ashe facing the void and losing her hearing as did Avarosa, and Sejuani trying to conquer the sky and losing her voice like Serylda.

How and why they do this, I don't know yet. But I thought it was a cool thought.

Zilean's consciousness is scattered throughout history. He 'exists' simultaneously at numerous different points in time; it's only his corporeal vessel that is physically present at the current moment.

This has given him such profound understanding of the universe and its fundamental laws that he has become more powerful than any other mage in canon, though this also means that he would never use his incredible powers without first pondering their possible effects on the stability of the fabric of reality.

The knowledge of how to prevent Icathia's fall without creating alternate timelines or seriously screwing with existence still escapes him. All this is precisely why Vel'Koz is so interested in probing his brain.

TL;DR: get on my level, Xerath.

The whole Baccai thing, I think, Riot have stated that Baccai are failures, they don't have power and are basically useless.

My theories: As Rhinark mentioned, Aatrox Ascended for was that of a horned owl, it has wings and 'horns'. His current form is an exaggeration of his formed self after he butchered himself with blood magic. The idea of an Owl is to bring him more down to earth, so to speak. He's power, respected and wise and the common speculation of a dragon is too cliched. Plus an owl where he can turn his head all the way around?

Kayn if the story progresses will ALWAYS end up dead, if he returns to his clan with the scythe, Zed will kill him for it. If he wins against Zed he will do exactly that Rhaast wants and Rhaast will take over so he's dead. Kayn will only ever die.

Pyke IS Nautilus, Naut is the soul trapped in the armour, Pyke is his body hell bent on revenge.

Not really a big one but Anivia is has a wing span of 500 metres.

Syndra is one of the Black Mist's biggest threat due to her magical fallout. We don't know what type of magic is the Black Mist, but if we assume it's Spirit Magic (and there isn't much to support that) that's entirely possible... Right?

We have no info on Zilean because he is no longer a physical being, he is no longer Zilean. He became time itself. And when the void is about to devour Runeterra in the last moments of the fight against it. He will psychically manifest and revert time or create an alternative timeline where the void doesn't exist. And everything is almost the same.

Velkoz is the creature Nami faced in her comic.

Arguments for:

  1. It is confirmed that Vel'Koz can survive living underwater for centuries at a time.

  2. The creature is definitely a voidborn and was locate not far from a void rift. Vel'Koz disseminates his knowledge into void rifts and as it is not yet confirmed if he can tear open void rifts in lore as he does in game, this is most likely one he would use as it is isolated from terrestrial species, yet easily accessible to him.

  3. The creature didn't immediately kill Nami - Non sentient voidborn seem to have a "consume on sight" instinct imbued in them, Vel'Koz is one of the sentient voidborn who does not follow this principle as it would be counter productive to his Modus Operandi.

  4. The story happens in present lore and both Nami and Vel'Koz have had time to move since, Vel'Koz heading North and Nami heading presumably east around the southern coast of Shurima heading towards Ionia as it appears to be the fastest way in lore as stated that there is more of the planet to discover and there are likely other continents toward the western oceans.

Bonus - if this is the route Nami takes then she will have to travel round the Icathian Peninsula.

Arguments against.

  1. Vel'Koz appears to be much larger than the creature Nami faced as it was roughly the size of a large shark in the comic and Vel'Koz appears to be the size of a large house in lore.

  2. Rasho was partially corrupted. Only Watchers have the ability to create voidborn and corrupt organic life as shown with Olar in Eye in the Abyss, Regular voidborn do not possess this ability. (It is possible that Rasho encountered a new type of voidborn created for corrupting mortals, or mere proximity to the rift caused it, either way Vel'Koz would not have been involved)

  3. _The creature didn't immediately kill Nami_whilst stated above, Vel'Koz would likely immediately kill anything new he encounters to understand it. (It is possible however that if it was him, he studied Rasho beforehand and therefore did not need to understand Nami.

  4. The creature reacted with brute force. Seeing as it's his main retaliation method I'm assuming Vel'Koz could still fire off plasma bolts underwater - someone science savvy would probably need to back this up.

Anyone have any thoughts or extra points please point them out
