Which champions do you love/hate on lore, looks, etc?

Just got curious as to what are your favorite or most hated champs are based on what their lore is like, their looks or even their personality.

Edit: OK completely forgot to post after work last night so I'll just do so now. (Also note that when I say looks, I mean base skin)

Favorite Designs: AurelionSol RekSai

By far my top standalone by design. Sol has still remained one of the coolest ideas I've seen. I mean how often can you think of a space dragon? The spectral look he has, his movement, it's all beautiful.

Rek'Sai on the other hand I feel really got down the beast aspect. She feels like a true terror in design and, based on description, is pretty big.

Most Hated Designs: Camille Annie Janna Kaisa Pantheon

Camille I've always never agreed with her design. Hell when Aatrox quotes against her "Scissors for legs? OK, I've thought I've seen stupid designs before.", that's literally how I feel. In a certain way it can work, hell Kingsmen the Secret Service did that and it work, but here I just don't like it.

Annie is another design that I just don't approve of since...well...I just don't see a child as a good design for a champ in a game, where you kill one another. Not to mention that I still feel like her clothing feels way too modern. I like the concept of her as a young pyro mage but it's just not executed or aged well.

I just hate Janna's clothing. 'Nough said about her.

Kai'Sa is just a disappointment to me. When we were teased her I was thinking of getting something along the lines of Kerrigan from Star Craft, something between human and Void. Instead we got what comes down to as a combination of Venom and Samus that really feels out of place for me (HOW DOES THE VOID HAVE FUCKING JET ENGINE SHOULDER PADS!?!?!?)

Favorite Lore: Aatrox Darius Shyvana Kalista & Most Bilgewater champs

New Aatrox I just find more interesting and appealing. Old was just "He is an embodiment of war, he doesn't care which side wins, only that you fight." It wasn't bad, hell it kind of reminded me of Warhammer's Khorne of "doesn't care whose blood is spilt, only that blood is spilt", but there wasn't that much outside of that. New one is fairly interesting of being this fallen "god", trying desperately to regain what he lost, but can't so he figures the only thing now is to embody hate in hopes that he can reform when everything ends. It's pretty sad but also interesting and scary even.

Darius is pretty basic but the comic is why he's here. It's a really good comic of some of his origins, his faith in Noxus, and even showing his relationship with his brother a bit, as well as showing a previous love and hinting at a child he never knew about.

Shyvana has always spoken to me as someone who just couldn't catch a break early on. Is somewhat an abomination to many and trying to live between two lives: live in peace with humans in Demacia, or maybe give in to her beastial nature in the future. I'm honestly sad that there aren't more stories of her or people invested in her. She by far my favorite champ ever and pretty much #1 lore wise.

Kalista is a very tragic figure of someone whose tries to do right, gets betrayed and now inhibits a spirit of vengeance. That's about it but it's pretty good.

And Most Bilgewater champs, Like MF, GP, Pyke, etc are just good.

Most Hated Lore: MOST OF THE TARGON ASPECTS, Vayne Jayce

Targon as of late is just being depicted as the bad guys! They imprisoned the Darkin and killed more in the recent short story, they enslaved Sol, they supposedly betrayed one another with the Lunari or something (IDK still), they just aren't a pleasant bunch. The only ones I feel are semi decent are Diana and Taric but even then I'm questioning if they're still that good. Not to mention that most of these champs are basically vessels for these aspects, like Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Vayne is just a god damn psychotic vigilante who killed her mentor, even though she saved her life and never got a chance to explain her curse.

Jayce from what I understand is just an egotistical asshole, wanting to be the spotlight hero.

Favorite VO: Aatrox Evelynn Jhin Kayn (Rhaast) Ornn Sion Urgot Swain Bard Kled

Aatrox has more interesting lines that do tie in his lore. Not to mention that he still has calm somber moments while also mixing in that pent up rage and anger in other ones.

Evelynn should be... self explanitory

Jhin is a proper psychotic killer done right. And I couldn't be happier. He's calm, yet menacing and I feel that's hard to pull off in characters.

Rhaast is just fun.

Ornn is the perfect example of in introvert and that heavily speaks to me.

Sion is a good example of a war hulk brought back and only remembering stuff in times of battle. An interesting idea.

Urgot is just creepy and I love it.

Swain has that...finesse with him.

Chime noises.

and Kled is...well...Kled.

Most Hated VO: Ashe Kaisa Riven Tryndamere

Ashe I just hate the whole united talk bullshit. This is mainly in part of Swain talking about her when he gets a Soul Fragment so their's more going on and I don't buy it anymore.

Kai'Sa is just so fucking bland! Basic must save world talk, and doesn't even have any interaction with her "Living Suit"

Riven I just straight up hate (Change my mind)

Tryndamere is just outdated and sounds cheesy.

Favorite Design: Pantheon History is more interesting than anything Riot has written thus far. I also quite like functional armor, and while Pantheon's is a bit... off in proportion it should still work. At least better than just about anything else in a base character's design. With maybe the exception of Xin Zhao.

Hated Design: Camille So, this one was kind of difficult for me. I normally don't care enough to hate a champion's design. If I don't like it, I don't play it. No harm, no foul. And while there is a huge list of champions I don't play because I don't find their designs particularly interesting: Zoe, most yordles, etc. I decided for Camille because her weaponry is just too stupid to ignore. I'm sorry, LoL has a huge list of stupid weapons, and it's fun to tear them apart. But I don't really take it seriously. But Camille's problems are just so obvious. You have only two points of balance. If you then kick, as soon as an opposite force stops the momentum you are now at 1 point of balance. And since she doesn't even have feet her balance will be even worse than normal. It's just so bad. And she'd be ruining the point and edge of her weapon by walking all day. It annoys me whenever I think about it. Which, admittedly, I normally don't. Like I said, I usually just let designs I don't care about slide. Those champions aren't for me, why should I rain on other people's parade?

Favorite Lore: MissFortune
Honestly, her lore is the only one I would unequivocally say is good. She has a consistent motivation. She makes actions moving toward achieving her goals. Her plans are simple enough that they make sense without running into narrative circles when you try to brake down the actions of the plan. While being spectacular enough to keep my interest. Her story is developing in an interesting way as she now wrestles with growing aware that she is becoming what she hated. And best of all, no fucking gods messing all this interesting stuff up and stealing her thunder. Outside of one story about fighting the monsters of the evil island place. Her lore is still one of the only ones that has not been overtaken by some ancient magic evil. It's about humans, politics, and cunning. Everything I love.

Hated Lore: Pantheon I hate everything about this lore. Everyone who knows me knows why. I'm not going to belabor the point. The more I read about Riot's cosmos and grand design the more I grow to despise it. It is shit.

Bonus Favorite Skin: Winged Hussar Xin Zhao. If ever a skin was made that could completely turn something I was only vaguely interested in to something cooler than anything else in this game. It's making a champion one of the freaking Winged Hussars. Hell yes.

Captain Fortune comes a close second.

Favourite Design: Evelynn Varus I’m not normally sold on sex appeal (particularly in relation to females). But I’ve gotta appreciate the cleverness of Eve. The way she moves, her changing appearances in and out of stealth mode, her splash arts, just her entire look. It’s awesome and a massive improvement from the stripper-Mystique thing she had going on. She embodies her theme almost perfectly.
Though I’m not as big a fan of his animations in-game, Varus gets a special mention simply for his splash art. Thank you Riot for delivering some decent eye candy to the girls.

Least Favourfite Design:Camille I didn’t think I had one until I started scrolling the list of Champs. There is just something wrong about her appearance. I don’t know how to put it into words but I think a lot of it has to do with the legs. They are so freaking impractical. I can’t stand watching her strut down top lane on her tiny pinpricks. Like realistically a strong breeze should knock her on her ass and yet there she goes flying off fucking walls like she’s freaking Spider-Man. Every time she doesn’t fall flat on her face I just feel inexplicably angry.

Favourite Personality: Ornn Grumpy grandpa Ornn. His external grouch speaks to my inner grouch. Tough to please, reclusive, grumbles about everything, and when he does say something nice half the time he’s actually complimenting himself more than the other person. Such an unintentionally endearing character.

Least Favourite Personality: Zoe Lulu Zoe, as I’m sure is the case with a few people, infuriates me. She embodies everything I dislike about children. Lulu... I’m not sure why I’m put-off by her. If she didn’t say so much dumb stuff I’d probably like her more. As it stands everything that comes out of her mouth annoys me.

Favourite Lore This was really difficult. Despite receiving updates a while ago, my favourite characters just aren’t that fleshed out. While I’m not a fan of the overall concept, the ideas and themes expressed in Aatrox’s lore were impressive. A strong part of me wants to like it, but I can’t deny my dissatisfaction and disappointment with the direction that was taken. Similarly, I greatly admire MF’s characterisation, but I think it’s about time other Champions were given the same attention and depth.

Least Favourite Lore This is far easier. Anything to do with the Freljord, Yordles, or Targon tends to disinterest me.

Chembaron Yamada6/29/2018, 10:57:37 PM2 votes

I love steampunk thematics, so every champion from Piltover and Zaun is just awesome for me.

Especially love: Urgot Warwick Vi Ekko Caitlyn Camille

Chemtech especially is fascinating, I really hope that we can get a female chembaron champion in the near future.

I hate Kled he is a discount rocket racoon with a splash of deadpool. But than again that also a good reason to love him.

Ashe “It is our duty to speak of unity, here among the ruins of our past. Now our people stand divided, torn apart by ancient hatreds. Brothers and sisters, our enemy is not our neighbor. Our enemy is a land without law and a long winter's night. It is hunger, poverty, desperation, and chaos. Look around you, these monuments from a bygone age, each older and grander than anything wrought by our hands. These are the works of a united Freljord, a fractured land that we can repair. From these ruins, we can raise a great nation. We are the people of the Freljord, and this land belongs to us all.”

No other champion is not only good—purely good—but also means to change their region for the better and knows and is able to do it.
