@Riot, What Restrictions Do Lore Developers Face At Riot Concerning Lore and Story?

What is Riot's model for developing lore currently? How much are lore decisions affected by gameplay decisions? What kind of lore created by Rioters is rejectedby upper management?

Based on the most recent Rioter posts on this, I've come to the conclusion that the Rioter's who currently publish LoL lore are merely slaves to the mechanics team. Game mechanics come first and Riot's lore department needs to scramble to put together some semblance of a story to explain it. That's a pretty sad state of affairs for Riot, and explains why the League of Legends no longer exists within the game that bears the title.

Exactly what lore, in your opinion, makes you think that the writers are slaves to the Gameplay division?

So, this is just in reference to the whole "lore team slaves to game design" part.

They aren't slaves. Both sides work together to make things work together for a champ. It wouldn't make sense for the champion, in game to have the ability to control mist and water, yet in the lore, they only control fire.

The thing is context to make sure everything flows smoothly together and make sense.

Ekko can crank his machine up and go back in time repeatedly and EVERYTHING resets. But in the actual game, he only resets himself. The two abilities don't match. Especially if we imagine that the other moves Ekko uses aren't things he can truly do in lore.

Yes, he fights, but at the same time, he's just a kid with human limitations. His strength is intelligence and the fact that he has a "redo" button.

For you to imply that Narrative are slaves to game development is quite inaccurate and above all rude and insulting. People who are part of the narrative team are spread out in several different groups to make sure that the character's reads (looks, voice, actions, and overall personality) sync up well with the story they want to tell with them.

Narrative isn't bending down to kiss game dev's butts. They're making sure the development process fits the character THEY wanted to make a story for.

Step 1. Where is this champ from? Example firelord Step 2. Which side Is this champ on? Ashe Step 3. Who are they? A simple goat farmer with a big heart. Step 4. What is their call to action? A troll boy being traped in a mountain volt. Yep yo guessed it, its Braum But that is u most champs work, all the ones that don't fall in this are basically just "here's random cool shit" bard? Lets just make him god. Kindread? Grim reaper. They can do this with these champions becaus the lore doesn't rely on anyone else's

Have you not seen the changes in the lore development process at Riot?

They've almost pretty much straight up said that members of the lore team are now the bitches of the champion development team.
