Why isn't Lore emphasized??

Out of every area of focus that Riot has, Lore is pretty much nonexistent! I don't understand why, you could literally hire a 4.0 Highschool student to write an immersive world full of the champions we play. I know it can be considered "nerdy", but it is the perfect avenue for a variety of things, such as hinting at new champions (I'm talking to you, Helmet Bro), or explaining background and making the players feel immersed in the world. Games like World of Warcraft come to mind- the Lore is so deep but noninvasive; you can play the entire game without knowing a thing about it, or you can go as deep as you want. Something as simple as this keeps players interested in the story, a complete different aspect of the game.

Currently, the majority of the Lore consists of a quick background paragraph or two for when the champion is released. They almost ALWAYS get criticism! And it's not surprising. Creating a world of Lore allows you to easily predict how a champion is going to act in a certain situation, having a solid world you can plop them down into will practically make the story write itself. But as of now, because the only Lore is these quick backgrounds, we have a strange collection of stories that don't seem to mix well together at all.

Writing a story is not like creating a champion from scratch. I'm just surprised that out of everything you could focus on, there is like zero focus on the story. You could literally have one single person work on this and make the game much more immersive. Instead of playing Swain, some dude who really likes birds, you could be playing your favorite champion knowing his context, personality, and motives.

I know that it isn't really a big deal- and it isn't. I'm just saying it is not costly, it is not difficult, and it helps get players more into the game. So why not just go all out on it and create a world that players can really get into? Because at the current state, any storyline or lore is pretty much a joke.

Thank you very much for your time!

The main issue is that Riot can't profit off the lore at the moment. Also, since LoL is a F2P game, Riot feels like it reserves the right to do things half-assed.

maybe because a lot of people don't take the time to read any of it. that's why they keep giving these 3 sentence lores and lazy lore's that tell you nothing about the character no one cares enough to read them like they should. but then again some champs just aren't interesting enough that you want to read their lore.
