Malphite Should Remain A Celestial

There is a world of perfect harmony, where all are part of the whole. The Monolith is the essence of all creation, and its denizens are but singular pieces of it. It is beautiful in its symmetry, and in its almost complete lack of uncertainty.

This part of Malphites' outdated bio not only establishes to be what current day League of Legends would classify as a Celestial ( )

But also sets him up as a direct foil to Soraka.

Soraka is a celestial that saw the grace in humanities failings and decided to help us find our own destiny

Unintended and wild, the mortals were forging new and unknown futures for themselves. From the celestial realm above, it had seemed like pure chaos; but with her new perspective, and blessed by the stars to stand against the erosion of time, Soraka now beheld an almost perfect beauty.

Malphite represents the other extreme. Like the majority of the celestials he can't appreciate the tangled web of fate, watching us defy the stars defies all logic to him

He raged, trapped in this new realm - Runeterra - a world that had nearly been consumed by its disharmony. Yet, it was a world that needed protectors to bring order out of chaos. It was to that end that the rock-creature found his true purpose. Looking past his own fear and apprehension, Malphite could see that Runeterra needed him.

Malphite can serve a place in the lore as an entitiy that forcibly trying to course corrects humanities fate to the predetermined path, because he has no concept of the joys of free will. He thinks he is doing altruistic work, but in reality he causes more harm than good. I picture a monotone voice for him that shows him stripped of emotion (Unlike Kayle who is human but represses it).

Inspirations for this interpretation are Bran Stark and other impassive agents of order

I was personally more prone to the concept that he (and a family of Malphites) were nature spirits of a similar kind to Maokai. Keeping the character grounded to Runeterra and expanding this world's natural beauty and magics, rather than some alien asylum seeker or interfering cosmonaut.

They could be giants who slumber beneath and wander around mountains/volcanoes. Or perhaps among grand caverns/hollows below the surface world (expand new environments into the lore- Lost World style). Spending their time in places far away from human civilization, unburdened.

Malphite and others would be wardens of a sort for undiscovered groves, or magical leylines that stream through the environment. They'd be extensions of the Green Father's will, overlooking places where he cant be all the time.

Something, give or take, along this line of ideas. Also, Im really not fond of "Malphite is the size of a mountain" idea. If he's meteoric in nature, his ult has some 'total extinction of all life' implications. Yikes!

I really like this idea, because Soraka hints of celestial determinism, but that concept is not represented in the game. There is not a single champion (except for maybe Zilean, who also needs a rework and more lore) that says "It had to come this way. Exactly how it was supposed to be."

Why would a celestial take exactly this form? Maybe as a "clone" or imitation of Mount Targon, because the celestials don't seem to be able to create something new they are not. That would also work as an aspect of "Preservation", not really "Protection" like Taric, but as anti-thesis to change. This concept would also apply to his form: Hard and sturdy and unchanging like a mountain.

I only like the celestial thing because the idea of malphite being a living meteor and crashing onto runeterra is metal.

Wouldn't it make more sense that Malphite is a Blue Sentinel made out of a mountain? I mean, in Ivern's lore he says everything on Runeterra is in some way alive, from the smallest pebble to streams and rivers, to mountains and the planet itself. It's in the name "magic earth."

I also prefer the idea that a mountain just got pissed some a-holes were digging around in it. Like in the Gorillaz's song, Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head. Just replace the mountain called Monkey with a mountain called Malphite.

Depending on how extreme Riot is willing to take Malphite's rework, I would actually like to see Malphite removed from the game, and instead, a new champion, maybe an old woman, possible an old yordle, and she just walks around, Mr. Magoo style, and she is followed by a giant shadow and loud thuds can be heard as it moves. Her abilities and attacks would just be Malphite reaching down to protect her.

To me, Malphite is at once two things; Lumbering titan and Lightning Glacier. His Ultimate is not going to be changed even with a VGU, and his Q steals movespeed/hastens him. Being "Oh runes this thing is FAST" is part of Malphite's shtick in my opinion. A Celestial guardian to set mortals on a predestined path sounds like a great story for Malphie
