I don't like Riot's new approach to character design.....

First we had Xayah and Rakan, the characters made for 12 years old tumblr users. Now we have Kayn, the character made for 12 years old edgelords.

These latest characters Riot is releasing lack the smart, the flair, the creativity and passion of other champions. When I see Xayah, Rakan and Kayn.... all I see is cold, heartless, robot-like marketing research.

Please Riot, don't lose your creativity. Creativity is the reason I like League Of Legends....

Riot: Re-does a massive amount of lore about several locations in Runeterra, including Mount. Targon, Demacia, and Ionia Riot: Creates interestingly-designed Champions to make the world of Runeterra more holistically realistic and amazing Riot: Creates literally the first two Champions in League of Legends with a direct, out-in-the-open relationship with unique character traits and a lot of personality Riot: Provides us new information on the Darkin with a Champion who, edgy though he may be, is actually super badass and fights for control OVER A DARKIN. Riot: Gets called uncreative and marketing to 12-year-olds by someone who doesn't like the cool stuff they're doing

For real though, if Riot's not being creative by literally filling in gaps in a world that was more than just ramshackle 3-4 years ago, and delivering cool stuff like the Lovebirds and the Shadow Reaper, then I'd hate to see what kind of dead-end "creativity" you envision.

Dude, you really need to get off your air of superiority in matters like this. Quite frankly you don't get to decide whether something is "uncreative" just becuase you don't like it.

That kind of thinking is incredibly juvenile, just like the mentalities you supposedly spend your days bashing. Quite hypocritical.

Well the way I see it is this:

Xayah, Rakan and Kayn were all made by the three new champion teams specifically, so one team did one champion, and it goes something like this:

Xayah's team also made Kled, Jhin and Tahm Kench. Rakan's team also made Ivern, Aurelion Sol and Kindred. Kayn's team also made Camille and Taliyah.

So I'd expect their next champions to be as varied from Xayah, Rakan and Kayn as those champions are from the rest of the champions they've made.

Dude, you REALLY like to talk to yourself. A little sad. Feel free to keep posting, I don't even need to reply apparently. I also am not even reading your walls of text but that isn't stopping you either.

If you're not reading the comments of people who read your complain and not trying to communicate (or even bringing something in the discussion other than "omg rito is not creative because I dun like the new champs"), you're the one taking to yourself in the first place. Why start a thread to whine, and not listen to others have to say on the same topic.

I'm still searching how Rakan and Xayah are made for 12 years old tumblr users (maybe because the majority of tumblr users are 18-34 years old). I'm really happy to see Riot expand the lore, update new aspects of their regions, and adding new species to the game. You don't like the designs, okay, but when I look back and see old champs designs... they were also targeting to a certain type of people, and sometimes not original at all, but people love them ! Evelynn sexy succub in pink underwear Caitlyn sexy sheriff in mini-skirt BUT she's steampunk Ezreal anime blond boy Janna anime blond girl in underwear BUT she master wind Annie I'm an evil child so special Akali boob ninja for ninja fans MissFortune boobs and gun, BUT it's to hide revenge plan boys ! The last one is a good example, with the lore and stories added to league, her personnality finally developped, we learned more about her. (she still has so much flows in her design and personnality, in the game). That's why you need to give also time to Riot. They'll tell us more about the new champs, more stories, more adversity, they'll grow as characters ! (Xayah for example, has a lot place to become more fleshed, more flawed, she's a vastaya teen, it's obvious she's edgy, she'll makes mistakes, and become more adult in league future stories)

While they aren't outstanding, they're far from plain. They're fine.

Well, it is impossible to make everyone happy with a champion. There will always be someone who will dislike it.

Let's talk about Xayah & Rakan - lorewise, I despise them both. (Gameplay both are amazing and also got Rakan to M7) Not, 'cause there a bad written, but because they are written so well. If their weren't written this good, I just wouldn't care about them. I wouldn't like them, but also wouldn't hate them. I dislike them 'cause they both the kind of person I hate in real life. Xayah is a racist, Rakan basically can't even stand still. Riot did an amazing job for making me dislike them. A character can be well-written, that doesn't mean you have to like him. Xayah and Rakan are amazing examples for it.

One problematic thing I see with Kayn that he has some pretty similiar characteristic with Xayah, his edgyness. I dislike him for his gameplay, 'cause I think his kit is overloaded. Sure, I kinda don't take him serious for the moment. His character design fits more for the younger audience. However, he still can have a well-written story and most important: he gives us more information. Not only about himself, but about the Darkins, the Order of the Shadow, probably Ionia and the Noxus war itself. Even if you don't enjoy him as character - I probably won't do it either - he will give us valuable information and for this alone you can be thankfully.

Unpopular opinion that just so happens to be 100% correct. Welcome to riot's target audience these days. 12 year olds whose brains are not fully developed.

Reviving necro- threads which already had their time to shine is against Universal Rules and as such I will be locking this thread to make sure it lands at the bottom of the howling abyss. I would strongly encourage looking at how old a thread is before commenting on it.
