If Summoners are non canonical now, why is it still called Summoner's Rift?

So since Summoners haven't been involved in League for how ever many years as it has been now, why is the rift still called Summoner's Rift? Why is there a Champion Remix about Sona where the refrain is one of her unchanged in game lines about only the summoner being able to hear her? Why does Brolof ask the summoner to summon hot chicks for him in game if summoners don't exist anymore? Seems pretty lazy to me to retcon summoners from the lore, but still leave bread crumbs of their existence all over Runeterra.

Because the game is not canonical now.

What else would you call it?

Rift Rift?

Fighty Rift?

League of Riftcraft?

I'm late to the party, but if I remember correctly, Summoner's Rift still exists in Runeterra and "summoners" still exist in the lore, but they just aren't the player's avatar anymore. Summoners were powerful mages during the Rune Wars, and Summoner's Rift is what is left of a Rune War battlefield between the Protectorate (blue side) and the Magelords (red side).

I don't know about you guys, but, to meh, it's like those champions group up or by themselves and apply to compete in a battleground for fun or for glory or whatever reasons.
