Could Sylas from the recently released Demacian Heart story be the next champion?

For those of you who haven't seen, the Demacia page has gotten a bit of a makeover as a teaser for the upcoming chain champion and has some new art. It's pretty cool: https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/region/demacia/

The odd timing of the Demacian Heart story releasing leads me to believe that Sylas (the kid from the story) is the new champion. There's quite a few hints that the story is probably set in the past, a time when Demacian tradition of hating and hunting mages is at an extreme level. Most of the current Demacia stories seem to be set at a time when outlooks on magic are changing. Lux is a state-sanctioned mage and there are many others, Jarvan who is in line for the throne has a good friend in Shyvana despite knowing she is a magical being, Galio is paradoxically a magical being despite his anti-magic properties and serves as a massive beacon/landmark/mascot for Demacians.

My personal theory? The Demacian Heart short story that was just released is set 20-30 years in the past before all these recent events in Demacia that might make them change their mind on magic occured. Sylas is the chain champion who has escaped and his goal is to obliterate Demacia. Demacians realize that petricite is not a perfect shield against magic like they had previously thought, it dampens the effects but extremely powerful magic can still break through, and hopefully the timeline moves forward. There will still be older people who hate mages and lots of skeptics will exist, but overall the nation becomes far less of an anti-mage inquisition.

I know Riot doesn't add lore characters to the game very often but that story was released at such a weird time. Demacia, now we know for absolutely certain, will be the region of the next champion. Stories of that size usually release with the champion, so this one was put out so we could get a new look at the character early. In the story, the little girl who has magic had an emotional outburst. We know she has heat energy of some kind because of the animal remains around the farm, except when she explodes with emotion Sylas is hit by the magic and subsequently amplifies the magic to kill everyone around him on accident. It would make sense that his gift is repurposing/ leeching magic from others.

As for how he escaped prison? We'll have to see. My bet is that the very chains he was imprisoned with, just like Galio, absorbed a massive amount of magic over time. This magic would usually seem to have disappeared, but Sylas can see magical energy and realized he can absorb the magic from the chains back into himself and use them as batteries. That's why he still has the chains around after he broke out. At least, that's my thought. It could also make sense with his magic-stealing abilities that the chains are the way he steals power now. As a child he absorbed magic from the girl and fainted, waking up with everyone dead. If he never learned to control this, it's possible he discovered that he can absorb another character's magic by proxy THROUGH the chains, which he then uses himself (again, like a battery).

Hot damn I'm excited if this is the case, and either way the gameplay will be crazy to see.

"Demacians realize that petricite is not a perfect shield against magic like they had previously thought, it dampens the effects but extremely powerful magic can still break through" if this was true Demacia was fucked anyways. There are 4 world runes, some of the most powerful magical artifacts, hidden in a vault below Demacia. so if any of that power was leaking they basically got magic radiaton everywhere.

Inb4 thats not it. People thought neeko was going to be ighilya from the ahri story and that didn't happen XD. So I'm not holding out for a name said in one of the stories.
