No, the concept of Karma isn’t being misrepresented

The concept of Karma in religious thought stems from the Vedas (oldest religious texts) and has seen prominence in religions like Hinduism and all offshoots of Hinduism.

Now a lot of folks on the boards are claiming that Karma as a concept is being misrepresented in the Karma (the champion) lore update. Many argue that Karma doesn’t refer to pacifism.

This stance ignores the incredible diversity of belief not just within Hinduism itself (it isn’t even one religion) but of all of the belief systems that are derived from Hinduism (Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism). Each of these beliefs and ideologies possess a different understanding of the concept of Karma, and for many, that includes pacifism.

In short, it’s ignorant to say that just because your interpretation of Karma is different from Riot’s fictionalization. There are plenty of avenues to voice criticism towards Karma, religious justification ain’t one of them.

You're right, it's more accurate to simply say that the new Karma is in no way true to the character of Karma as she has ever existed in League of Legends, nor does it make sense for any playable character in an action-focused game such as League of Legends, making it yet another example of the lore team closing their eyes and ears to the context of what they're supposed to be working on and instead writing a story that will create long-term problems for the game.
