Champions' Lore That still stands

The last champion to explicitly mention their joining the League was Hecarim, on April 4th of 2012. No champions after him directly reference their joining of the league, and most champions reworked (with lores updated) after that date (Sejuani, Karma, Trundle, Heimerdinger, Karthus etc) have had their references to league of legends removed. Could this mean their lore still stands? Would you want their lore to?

If their lore is standing, how are they dealing with the Resurrection of Shurima?

To me it appears the line is blurred... IMO Lore should be broken down into sections..

1st: Where the champion came from and life pre their time at the institute of war. 2nd: Reasoning on why/how they became involved with the institute of war 3rd: Life at/during the institute of war

I find the biggest issue being the lack of clarity, then the almost back peddling that occurs whenever a new champion arrives that happens to tie in other champions lore. The clearer and more defined those 3 elements are at the start, can make for an easier (in most cases) transition in the future.

I've realized some lore changes, like Xerath's, didn't change that much.

Indeed. Nasus and Renekton are still very much the same characters. Not all the lore reworks are Trundle-like in scope.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more kibbitz about Malzahar being left out of Shurima, given the strong Arabian Nights themeing of the character. Keeping him out of the desert seems like a waste, but I'm guessing he's going to be addressed in an upcoming big Void lore unification arc that we know little about just yet.
