Well I'll be the first to say that Sion's current lore needs 'rebooting' (lol) well not really, it needs a re-edit actually.
In case you weren't aware, the Noxus lore update established a change that affects Sion's own background. Namely his partnership with Boram Darkwill- who it use to be canon that Darkwill was born a few hundred years ago along with Sion, which explained why both were around during J1's lifetime. For Boram that's not the case any more, which changes the dynamic of their relationship and slightly alters Sion's origins when becoming undead no thanks to Boram's orders to have so done. It also doesn't make any sense how a Demacian army traveled such a vast distance to get to Noxus, nevermind that they somehow managed to reach the heartland relatively unscathed.
So Devs have acknowledged that Sion's lore now contains contradictory content and plan to update in the future.
"Sion's lore is mostly intact, with changes to Darkwill (he wasnt centuries old- he wanted to become that). We will have to clean the disconnect eventually..."

Why im mentioning this is because we have no clue when the devs can get around to doing so, like they said "eventually". The up side is, I can guarantee without it being confirmed that Sion will get his first biography once they get back to him. Perhaps in that new bio you will find more information about his life pre-death.
Another thing as well, there was mention during the Noxus lore update...
"We're actually going to have more time for Noxus throughout the year as we do more faction updates moving forward. While this (Noxus) update may have been smaller overall, we're aiming to increase the quantity of lore beats in 2018. You wont have to wait a year for more lore beats like this."

Which I had assumed that meant we'd see another Noxus lore update before the end of the year and by association a Sion update too. However I'm not sure that's what they were implying, but maybe they were and there's hope ...?
So I'd recommend if possible you should withhold from your passion project in the mean time.
PS. Do you have Autodesk Maya? Animating is apart of my courses I'm studying and Maya is the software we use. Although its a bit of an advance program for beginners to pickup and costly if you're not a student who has the government pay the expenses haha.
