@Riot I'm really disappointed you failed to keep your promise about Udyr (Please Read)

Dicussion on Udyr's new lore and other Freljord tidbits

Remember when you made Udyr become a part of the Freljord back in season 3? There was an outrage at the time to keep him from Ionia since his lore had deep ties to it. Your response to it was this: Even though Udyr was added to Freljord lore it doesn't make him any less Ionian. It only means he is both Ionian and Freljordian. I'll quote the exact quote of yours from surrender@20:

"Udyr has aways been a champion with deep ties to Ionia, and those tie remain. Champions don't need to be defined by a single faction. For example, Poppy is a yordle from Bandle City, but she also has deep ties to Demacia. With the new lore release for Udyr, we tell the story of who he was before he became the Animal Spirit, including his journey to Ionia where he learned to harness the power of the spirits. At the same time, we reveal his origins in the Freljord, and hint at his role in dealing with an upcoming threat.

With his unique tie to both factions, Udyr is now set to be a key player in both Ionian and Freljord stories."

You said Udyr would not disappear from Ionian stories and lore. But now if you go to Ionia universe page he is not even listed as one of the champions of Ionia. https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_US/region/ionia/ Check for yourself. This really saddens me because I remember Udyr played a HUGE role in the Ionia vs Noxus match, he basically solo carried that game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAgzWCXEPT4 His lore reflected that too:

"Udyr owed much to the Ionians. It was a debt he was never asked to honor, but one he would ultimately repay many times over. When the armies of Noxus invaded, Udyr did not stand idle as the brutal soldiers oppressed the peaceful Ionians - he had not forgotten how to bare his teeth. Udyr leapt at their armies with all the ferocity of a cornered beast and gave the invaders good reason to fear the wilderness. From the trees, his claws tore the Noxians down in scores; on the river banks, he threw them back with the falling tides, and in the fields, he consumed them with searing wildfire. Only when the Noxians fled with their tails between their legs did Udyr quell his rage."

After playing that LARGE of a role in Ionia's fate, he isn't even listed as an Ionian anymore. As an Udyr main it makes me really sad to see that. I hope Riot that you see this and can make his ties to Ionia strong again, not make it feel non-existent. Udyr was always an Ionian to me, and he still is.

He isn't listed as an Ionian because Riot only list Champions under a single region at this point in time and Udyr is ultimately a Freljordian who is currently only directly engaged with the Freljordian narrative arc.

It would certainly be nice if they could change things so that Champions could appear under two or more regions - look at Elise, only listed as a Shadow Isles Champion despite the fact that she is Noxian, currently resides in Noxus and cultivates strong ties with the Black Rose - but for the time being they seem content to only show the one most relevant to their identity and/or place in the wider narrative.

Overall Udyr was retconned into a member of the winters claw back in 2013,at that point it was clear that Udyr would be a freljord champ first and an ionia champ second. And this is pretty much still the case,he lives in the freljord,but he did travel to ionia and fought against the noxians and trained with Lee sin,before he travelled back to the Freljord.
