I know that time and time again Rioters have said that Rhaast won't be getting his own bio or color story because he himself is not a champion and while I personally have some qualms with that (ie. We get to know so much about Keagan Rhode in Brand's bio and story who isn't Brand himself technically (he's just the body)... why does Rhaast get shafted? Just as one example. Other people have brought up Atreus wrt Pantheon as well as Valmar & Kai wrt to Varus) I would like to hope that we'd at least get something for Rhaast at some point. If not a bio nor a color story I'd like something to chew on wrt to Rhaast at the very least. Right now I feel like we don't know all that much about him especially compared to Aatrox and Varus.

According to this tweet there was even unreleased "stuff" written for Rhaast by ex-Rioter CoolRadius that hasn't been published yet: https://twitter.com/Spideraxe30/status/1098607761171062787

He did write some stuff for rhaast but thats up to the current narrative team to publish

And according to this quote from Scathelocke Rhaast's lore was already in line with the darkin update at the time of writing it. This post also points out the fact that there's no reason they couldn't write stories featuring Rhaast in the future:

Just to be clear, and answering only the original question from the thread - Rhaast did not get a lore update for two reasons (both of which were asked at the time, IIRC)

  1. He's not a champion, so he's not going to get a bio or color story of his own like Varus or Aatrox.
  2. Kayn was the most recently created champion, and his lore (including Rhaast) was already in line with the planned Darkin update that accompanied Aatrox.

Having said that, there's no reason at all that we couldn't do ACTUAL stories including Rhaast in future :-)

(Kayn's in-game transformation hasn't happened in the lore, BTW. That's a what-if scenario for players to live out the fantasy and make a choice in their games, showing what he could look like if that were to one day happen... and that's just frickin' awesome!)

So my question for you, readers, is do you think they should release the lore written for Rhaast? (Alternatively they might have to write up new lore for him. Even if it was already in line with the darkin update I'm not certain of the legality of publishing an ex-Rioter's work.) Would Rhaast lore be something that interests you?

Yeah I really want the work CoolRadius did to be published but since he parted ways with Riot, I have no further clue on it

I still feel like we need to know more about non-champion characters. In some other way other than the champion stories.

Rhaast's lore is that he was too hot so they made him an ascended, but whoops now people are furries so they made him a demon and whoops now he's hotter than ever. I think the lore would be really cool! The Frenemies dynamic he and Kayn have are some of my favorite interactions and I think Rhaast Backstory Reveal would just give me more fun quotes to find. It really doesn't see super fair that lots of nonchampion characters get bits and pieces of lore and story but a character you can choose to play as doesn't even have a wiki page.

Ah, I didn't interpret that Brand and Keagan were two entirely different entities like Kayn and Rhaast would be. Sure in the old lore they definitely were, but 'Brand' is the mythology surrounding what Keagan has become. It's still very much the same entity, if only now he's completely insane beyond any reason.

On the plus side, it means we can make up our own Rhaast lore with absolutely nothing to contradict us. On the minus side, there's still barely any canon Rhaast lore. Big sad.

I think you could easily go into the kind of person Rhaast was without making him too gray. He can't have just been born evil or he wouldn't have Ascended.

Heck, we've humanized the Aspects. Kind of. Even at the peak of their evil, the Darkin (as far as we know) didn't put anyone in eternal torture prisons. If people who pulled THAT off can get moral grayness, who the heck can't?

Keeping some mystery helps characterisation or general story development. Honestly, people may have wanted to know Wolverine's real name but did anyone actually care in the end? We all still call him Wolverine/Logan.

Rhaast is one of the least grey characters in League at the moment (sadly) and keeping him as a homicidal maniac with little characterisation outside of "oh, that thing is alive, let's kill it." helps put the point across that this thing is dangerous and Kayn even willingly contemplating the idea of trying to best him is a mistake.

I understand Riot's stand on it, technically Rhaast isn't the character, Kayn is.

... although, Kai and Valmar technically aren't champs either but we know all about them.
