My frustration with Jax’s place in lore

Felt like this needed its own thread. With the void update, we see a cameo of Jax in Icathia. I imagined that it was him before his supposed void corruption. Ever since his connection to Icathia, that felt like a reasonable guess. Rioters have stated or implied that he isn’t corrupted. So is he human? What race is he? Why have we only seen one of his kind?

I could be exaggerating things, but that level of uncertainty bugs me. When the big retcon was announced, a lot of us were concerned over what will remain canon. How do these champions fit into the lore? Over time, I’ve seen Riot try and place champions into groups.

Nasus is an ascendant. Pantheon is an aspect. Evelynn = demon. A lot more. When we got to Jax, I thought we would have a reason as to why or how he looks the way that he does. I am aware that this could be fleshed out in his bio eventually, but I’m disappointed by the lack of answers currently. This feels like a wasted opportunity to me.

Am I the only person who feels this way?

Currently there's all kinds of possibilities for Jax. For instance. the pre-void invasion Icathians could effectively be an offshoot of the proto-human race riot mentioned previously in the creation of the vastaya as a race as well. Hell he could have been altered by the magic of runterra similar to Ryze (hence the skin color). The mystery is intentional and intended to make you want/discuss/think more. The current lack of defined info is not a wasted opportunity and instead can be considered the teaser that hooks the player base into reading/wanting more lore.

If you hoping him to be a god like character I wouldn't count on it. He's always had the whole man at arms vibe going for him and I would imagine that they will double down on that during this incarnation as well. They also already gave Mantheon the god treatment so it is unlikely for him to get a similar one (plus it would be kinda boring). I'm thinking they will make him into a fallen champion of Icathia who discovers something/had something happen that extends his lifespan/makes him unable to die. Which in turn leads to his current appearance/temperament ect.

People called my crazy when i said that Jax wasnt the only one of his kind and he wasnt a corrupted human, but it seems that i was right about it and its literally said in his lore:

Unmatched in both his skill with unique armaments and his biting sarcasm, Jax is the last known weapons master of Icathia. After his homeland was laid low by its own hubris in unleashing the Void, Jax and his kind vowed to protect what little remained. As magic now rises in the world, this slumbering threat stirs once more, and Jax roams Valoran, wielding the last light of Icathia and testing all warriors he meets to see if any are strong enough to stand beside him...

"Jax and his kind" aka: there are more of his kind

The race of Jax being unknown is something that always have been like that and i never understood why people thought that he was a human when his lore was updated.

Awesome! I was just coming to the conclusion that saijax was indeed jax in the void lore update. If I'm not mistaken, however, There's a tidbit in the story that suggests he has some sort of corruption going on, despite the subtlety of it. He's wounded, and when Axa points it out he says it's worse than it looks.

I could be looking too deeply into it BUT, the proof to my point comes later.

After the Shuriman line breaks, Axa looks back at jax when he calls the regiment to fall back.

He sees Saijax again as the corruption erupts throughout Icathia, and so I'm presuming in between Jax's retreat order and his attempt to escape is when he recieves his wound, presumably from something of the void.

We can't see jax's face but the fact that he's purple, supposedly human and only has three, troll like fingers, has to say a little something along the lines of corruption, right?
