"The Southern Continent"

So currently we have 3 continent: The northern continent, Valoran, containing the massive Freljord, the vast Noxian Empire as well as the Kingdom of Demacia. Then there's the island continent of Ionia, which is a region in and of itself. Lastly there's "The Southern Continent" or "The Shuriman Continent", consisting mainly of The Shuriman Empire, Icathia and Mount Targon. But does this continent even have a name and what is it? if not then why not? Also how big is this continent in relation to the other continents? And what is with this Kumangra/Mudtown region in the north west of the continent and will this region be explored in the future?(Is this some sort of tropical region as Kumangra is suspiciously close to the old Kumungu jungle) The southern continent seems mystically empty with mainly just the Shuriman Empire dominating the continent and there could be more to this continent south of the desert for a storytelling/world building perspective.

Unfortunately not the answer you want (not yet), but minor correction - Kumangra and Mudtown are shown to the north east on the Medarda map, not the north west. Otherwise I have no quibbles with your statements.

I know you know that, and have probably done the thing that I do where I get my east and west mixed up for a brief moment. I actually still have to use a mnemonic to remind myself; (going clockwise, from top) No-one Eats Shredded Wheat. Which of course isn't true, but that's the mnemonic I learned!

Wasn't it confirmed that the northeast of the southern continent is a huge jungle stretching from kumungra to mudtown and down through that big river that you see on the new map? I guess it could be the same jungle referenced in Ezreal's story and maybe where nidalee and zyra live.

Yes that's such a good question! IMHO the name of the southern continent is League's most perplexing and largely ignored mystery outside of what is a Darkin? etc. This mystery isn't helped by the fact that every time current lore mentions the south, it's only ever referred to as "Shurima" Making it almost impossible to tell if there is a difference between what is the entire land and what is the large area that was once the Empire of Shurima.

If the continent and empire are two different things and the empire has been buried for centuries. Why does lore still refer to the territory of the lost kingdom as such? Let me put it this way, would it not be confusing if Noxus was the name of Mordekaiser's old kingdom as well?

Oh well time will tell if something will be revealed or not.
