Um, Is Vayne a sociopath?

Part of being a sociopath is a nihilistic/sophistic tendency to completely ignore other people's emotion and agency. The world effectively revolves solely their perspective and everything is justified in the name of their perspective. In the real world, it's common for most sociopath is stick to a simple role, like 'do whatever feels good' or 'bettering one's position'. This leads to serial killers because, for them, killing pleasurable and fulfills that rule or being cutthroat and underhanded to secure promotion, pay, prestige fulfills bettering one's position.

Vayne definitely has sociopathic trait. Her sole rule is 'kill black magicks'.

Unlike normal people, who may have a very human turmoil because of 'empathy' where they consider the other side's perspective and the nuances of their positions... Vayne doesn't have that. At all. There was no hesitation when confronted with the idea that perhaps, not all black magicks are bad. Perhaps her idea of black magick isn't so simple. Vayne completely ignored that. She simply followed her rule that all black magicks are bad and executed Frey. She then smiled, suggesting she was happy in fulfilling it.

I think this contrasts a lot with my original idea of Vayne's character, which is a Batman rip off.

While Batman is often considered insane by his peers (he fucking eats his steak well done for fuck's sake), he had a moral center. Batman avoided firearms, he doesn't kill, he delivers criminals to the justice system and hopes they can make the right choices, and he trusts other people which expands his Bat Family. This lets Batman get a lot of nuance to his character.

Vayne doesn't have that. She may never develop it with her current descriptions because she's essentially a sociopath that has no qualms over killing others in the sake of her goal. She has no established limits of moral complexity. Would she kill children if they were demon infected? Would burn women and children hiding in a church from demons if they happened to be possessed? Would she strangle these children if she had to because she ran out of bolts?

The answer to all of these questions, based on current lore, is 'yes'.

I think while Vayne herself is uninteresting as a character in the moment, it might be interesting to see how other characters relate and view her. While Vayne may not kill them solely because they don't use 'black magicks', they may feel unsettled in how careless Vayne is of the human element in her mission. She kills without mercy and in complete vindication. That's something a lot of people may struggle to understand in that 'yeah, we get you're on a mission to kill demons and evil stuff... but they're kids'.

Which makes the whole: "I hear the innocent cry out" line hilarious because she could be the one killing them like an overzealous inquisitor.
