How Summoners could technically, possibly, still exist.

I can't get to sleep so let's get this started since it's been on my mind for ages. Alright, so the League is no longer a thing and never will be. Along with them, the Institute of War and Summoners are also gone. Now I partially agree with the reasoning behind it. The notion that all wars can be decided through a mock battle is derogatory to the pride of any warrior, and the battles that were on the Rift only decided which party would get the advantage. A coin toss to decide the fates of thousands of innocent lives. It's simply not a good system. The Institute got caught up in this I feel, but it was a very key part that made LoL's lore interesting since it wasn't just about Super Smash Bros, but also about the politics of this bizarre world. It can be taken as just being a matter of them not wanting their world blown to very small bits. Likewise was the idea that Summoners were incredibly powerful, capable of tossing J4 around like a toy (Telekinesis in general is an absurdly boring ability on its own since it can DO EVERYTHING). Although that was something of a misunderstanding from a possible miscommunication, the damage has been done. Summoners just didn't have a power level set.

But then, what can we do about them without utterly removing them from the lore? Well here is where a little English and googling comes in handy. Currently, the general idea most of us have about 'summoning' refers to its use in TV series like Yugioh. But 'summon' is defined as this: 1. order (someone) to be present. 2. make an effort to produce (a particular quality or reaction) from within oneself.

The latin root of which being: Summonere; ‘give a hint’

In other words, it is not just about the arcane or occult. It can be an order or the invocation of an effort. It can then be used in this context: "The King of Demacia, Sir Jarvan Lightshield the 3rd, was summoned forth to oversee the ceremonies." You remember how I talked about politics and how it was the main thing that made League stand out? Well, just as much as we can have a summon of a person or object, we can also attempt to summon a change in thinking. A change in thinking that could ultimately change the world itself. This is at the heart of Politics; the process of making uniform decisions applying to all members of a group. As a greater majority of individuals approve of a certain way of thinking, so too does it influence the laws of their governing body. I am not saying this in light of recent events, but as something that flows through society itself. Avoiding that shitstorm as much as possible, I want to suggest that Summoners are specialists, governed by the Institute of War, who seek to establish moral and ethical standards for the ravaged land of Valoran following significant and devastating wars. It doesn't matter that whether said standards are in effect, but rather that Summoners are trying to make a difference in the world, even if it is one step at a time.

Now what do we do about the 'Champions'? Well I think it's pretty easy to say that they're just a face for us to help experience and explore their world. Now as much as I understand that we all "love" the big powerful gods in Runeterra because they're cool as shit, there are some stories that cannot be told through their grand narratives. They will dismiss Romance as momentary chemistry, Action as being cosmically inconsequential, Peace as just being the start of the next chapter. They dismiss humanity itself, something that has made so many stories work so damn well. By only allowing these End of the World scenarios, we are denying other stories the right of significance.

And that's pretty much what I want to say. Thanks for reading.

You can find summoners in The World That Never Was

Nah summoner and the institude was just plain stale in my opinion. The whole.magical un thing wasn't exactly interesting in anyway. I mean if it's too op it's dumb and restrictive and if it's too weak than it's kinda pointless. If I want interesting politic Noxus,Demacia or even Ionia can easily fit the role better than the institude could ever hope to achieve. Un storyline about setting ethic is boring at the very least and it's just comes of as forced in almost all situations. Beside the current way everything is set up in the new lore is far more dynamic than the old lore. Demacia and Noxus standing near a stalemate, Frejord is having a civil war, Ionia is a giant mess after the noxus invasion and shurima having old legends battle against each other. We don't need the league to be shoe horn in here. I mean what is the institude going to do if it exist in the new lore without their op as ass power, they probably gets wiped off and get laughed out the face of the existence. I do believe Summoners still exist in some way as confirm by Jaredan. Whats their role in all of these is beyond me, but I do have some personal theories. If I had to guess that the summoners and the institude perhaps once exist but ultimately failed andcause a rune war that destroyed the world setting people back to the sone ages. The current Valoran is pale comparisent to it's former glory.

My evidenceb for this comes mainly from Aurelion soles quotes:

"Any relevant species has been knocked back into the Stone Age once or twice."

"Ah, mankind. Ever fumbling from one brink of cataclysm to the next.

"I've seen the main act. You're only a third-rate cover band."

I find that these quote was rather interesting when I was going through Aurelion sols dialouge, especially the lasr one. The Targon lore is very rich in hidden detail that people tend to missed out on or simply dismiss cause they can't get their head out of the sand. Regardless i would like to pay attsntion to the last quote. Aurelion sol refer the current state of Runetera as a third rate cover band. I find this quite interesting as we know how old out sky dragon is , we know he saw alot of runeterra's history as he was present in both the construction of the sun disk and the fall of shurima. He claims to seen the main act, but what is the main act. The rune wars pehaps or something greater. We know that the current SR is still within the new lore, it's mostly in ruins covered by dense forest. We knows this from the mutiple new picture given by riot that shown of the new SR. The institude isn't there but why has SR built and why is it in ruins. Also I would like to consider the fact that Runetera translate to magic eath, yet magic isn't very common as state by rioters. Why is that? Considering that the targonians were originally from Runeterra. They seem to hold power to transform to stars, whatever happen to the knowledge or even magic they had? I don't believe for a moment only targon had powerful magic capable to enslave aurelion sol but didn't try to conqure the world first before they took to the stars. There has to be reason as for why they did what they did.

From these short hidden hints in lore, I have able to complete a basic event timeline. I believe that the world runettera is in right now is a post apocalyptic world left after the destruction cause by the rune wars. The institude of war of somekind might had existed at one point in time to stop this, they built the SR to try to minimize the damage, but they ultimately failed and the world started an Rune war that destroyed the world. The targonions didn't took to the stars because they weren't interested in mortal affair, but more because they wanted to flee from the Rune war that was happening. They enslave aurelion sol because they need leverage to face of the horror in space and save their own hind fron runeterra itself. This Rune war set back humanity to the stone ages and cause damage to the magic leyline on the world causing a decrease in magical capabilities. But that just a theory of course

ps sorry for the bad grammer typinh on phone os hard.

Ha! My idea of summoning comes from Dungeons & Dragons.

But whatever, as you kids say "Same (thing, no) Difference".
