It's a shame Udyr is never going to get a VU because he has an ultimate skin.

Udyr's base skin is hands down the ugliest skin in the game imo. Actually, all of his skins except spirit guard and definitely not Udyr are pretty horrendous. I actually can't bring myself to even play him on my alt account because its just that ugly without a skin. I feel the reason he doesn't get a VU is because it would involve revisiting his ultimate skin. It sucks knowing a champ that is in dire need of one won't get it because of one skin.

I think Riot should make a policy of giving champs VUs before they get ultimate skins. No champ has gotten a VU after they received one. Udyr is in desperate need of a VU.

I believe Udyr is a tier 1 for VGU's so its just a matter of waiting for one of the rework teams to figure out a good idea for him since thats how they choose reworks and not just picking based on their visuals. Udyr is in a alright state right now I think and its just a waiting game for him to get a rework to update his visuals along with his gameplay.

No lie... They should make Spirit Guard his base skin and remake Spirit Guard itself not to mention Black Belt Udyr is the most disgustingly trash skin, basically just a recolour/ ugly chroma

They mentioned theyre willing to rework him despite having an ult skin in one of the quick gamplay thoughts. Imo Sona needs one too.

Who cares about skins? If the champ's good play him m8. It's better playing an ugly champ that you are good at then playing a 'pretty' champ that you are bad at

they also could just make spirit Guard Udyr his base Skin and just forget that he has an Ultimate skin. FOr this similar to the runes removal just give people the rp or orange essence back. Dificult would be than to increase hard his other skins in comparison. I think definetly not udyr is fine but the others lack in quality, even for low price skins it should not be under the default skins.

He's a case where they should just refund anyone that bought Spirit Guard, and make his ultimate his base skin. The evolving stuff in the skin is cool, but I feel like it didn't really take his theme in a new and cool direction.

I mean they can do it, the skin just wont have special animations. When Galio got reworked his Gate Keeper skin didn't get any special animations.

If you watch qtpie stream he does interviews at times with riot developers. His recent one was with champ designer and he mentioned that udyr was really high and they are looking to rework

As a 6 year udyr main i can totally agree, however as a studying videogame designer i can understand why they are delaying it:

Udyr is basicly 4 champions in 1, animation, art, SFX and models wise. Add in the need to also update his SGU and you basicly have the work load equivalent of almost 8 champs in 1 VGU, its no wonder they have ignored him. Still, its disgusting, he should be far up in line for a VGU than champs like Irelia, Akali, Cho or even Mordekaiser

At this point I wouldn't be too surprised if they use spirit guard as base for the VGU, and just make a brand new ultimate skin for him. Although it'll have to be a very, very, very good ultimate skin, to avoid having people rage and asking for refunds. That skin is one of Rito's best sellers, even though it doesn't stray to far from the original champion in terms of creativity.

That said, it could also be that udyr has a problem similar to mordekaiser's: his kit is kinda weird, and it's probably hard to find a choesive idea for a gameplay rework.

I don't remember which Rioter said it, but somebody did say recently that at this point the cost of remaking an ultimate is getting outweighed by Udyr's need for a rework/VGU.

I feel the same same about Ezreal. Every time I look at his walk cycle, I feel like I'm in a 90's game where 3D animation was still in its infancy.
