So rhaast was a god warrior of shurima?

You mean... the bloodthirsty killing machine with a metallic face and horns, that just wants to kill everything? I mean... Aatrox has a reason, because of some false theory he came up with thinking if he ends everything he can end too. However, Rhaast just wants carnage, I wonder what Rhaast is like before he became a darkin... and did he always have a demonic face?

Rhaast is an Ascended. and I think it was said that becoming an ascended does not necessarily mean you were a morally good person.

Rhaast in my mind has always been a monster. just he can do it without true consequence now

All of the Darkin were "noble" in ancient Shurima. Of course, the people at the end of Shurima's imperialism would disagree with that nobility.

Anyway, a lot of the Ascended were turned mad through the void scrambling their brains and they descended into bloodthirst and war. You could argue though that a lot of the Darkin weren't exactly stable before the void, but the void and the loss of Azir were just a catalyst in the inevitable loss of what little humanity the ascended had.

Void-PTSD plus 1400 years in an eternal torture prison isn't a good recipe for a psychologically stable individual. Odds are Rhaast was a lot closer to a regular dude before all that went down. The problem is that we only see him post-Things Going Horribly Wrong, so from our perspective he's always been like that.

I have a feeling Rhaast was noble once. Just like Aatrox. But a part of me thinks he's always been a bit cruel. Like the Sid from Toy Story of the Ascended family.

Probably not, the timing fucked up since Kayn was released when the Darkin were supposed to be alien.

Keep in mind that a lot of Rhaast's personality depiction is a relic from when the Darkin were still an alien race from another world. So when (if ever) Rhaast gets some proper lore, I think he'll have a few more facets to him before he became murder-obsessed.

I'm more interested in what he was than anything related to why he was.

If they are using crued magic to try and replicate their previous forms which they butchered anyway before using bloody magic and he has horns and how they curve I'm going to assume he was a Buffalo.

He was a descended god after Azir's death and the fall of Shurima, je became a Sunborn jist like everyone else, then he became a Darkin.
