The Wolf and the Lunatic [Warwick & Jinx Lore Theory]

Hello, summoners! Today I want to talk about a theory I came up with. Since Warwick got his VGU, it was clear that he has some kind of relation with our favourite crazy girl from next door, Jinx.

His quotes clearly indicate that he has some kind of past with her. "You were there...." "Let me forget!"

The common theory is that "there" relates to Singeds laboratory, where Singed experimented on his body and he heard the voice of a young girl screaming a name. He also remembered blood... And that Singed was the one driving Jinx insane with his experiments. Another common theory is that Jinx is actually Warwicks daughter additionally.

However, I think that neither of that is true and the truth lies way more in the past. Swains new interactions gave us some more hints what might have happened. So let's come to my theory.

First, what do we know about Warwick? He used to be a criminal, but he changed his way of life and wanted to become an honest man. Unfortunately, his past lead to Singed capturing him and using him in his experiments.

But the question is, why did Warwick want to change his life? Did he just wake up some morning and thought that he doesn't want to commit crimes anymore? And why did his crimes suddenly haunt him, making him feel guilty, even if he was probably totally fine with them for years?

My answer: a trauma. Singed experimenting with him was not the only major trauma in his past. There was something else before that happened. And I think that exactly that is related to Jinx.

The Accident I believe that Jinx (and probably friends of her) encountered Warwick in the past. Not the chemtech chimera version of him. She met Warwick the man.... Warwick the criminal.

If Warwick simply wanted to commit robbery or something way more gruesome, I can't really tell. But he was threatening Jinx. And perhaps something unexpected happened, something that Warwick never had imagined when he was planning his crime.

Jinx fought back. Maybe she had a weapon on her own, or she was able to take Warwicks weapon. Zaun is a place packed with chemicals and machines. Chances are that for example a stray bullet can have heavy consequences..... In this case, it could have caused a big explosion, which claimed many victims.

The Consequences

The explosion seperated them and they probably never met each other after. But both of them experienced the catastrophe, they were at ground zero. People dying in the flames of the explosion (remember Swain mentioning Jinx seeing faces in the flames?), suffer poisoning and probably alot of other cruel ways to die.

Warwick saw a whole city suffering and he blamed himself. His selfish crimes lead to this and this experience was haunting him for the rest of his days. Jinx probably blamed herself as well. Maybe she thought something similar like "if I had let him have his way with me, this hadn't happened". But unlike Warwick, who was an adult and already saw a fair share of deaths... Jinx was still a young girl.

I believe that this event is the true cause of Jinx' insanity. Her mind was not able to deal with the trauma and simply shattered.

Singed Laboratory and Swains Interactions When Warwick was hearing the voice of a young girl screaming a name, it was probably a friend of Jinx' calling her name back that day. He was drugged, so chances are that he just hallucinated stuff from his past and the girl was actually not present when Singed changed his body. And the stuff he remembered were the memories of the biggest sin in his life, which he never rehabilitated.

And this is why I think Swain has this quote for Warwick. "She was closer than he realised."

When Swain is collecting your soul shard, he knows your secrets. He sees what happened back then and he sees something else in Warwick.

Even if Warwicks taunts towards Jinx say that he wants to forget, he probably is torn apart between wanting to forget.... and looking for Jinx to apologise. He wanted forgiveness for his past self, so maybe he was unconciously searching Jinx to achieve that. And maybe they were close to each other several times (both live in Zaun) without realising it. In this interaction however, Warwick dies without ever meeting Jinx again to apologise.....

Bonus Some people might remember Warwicks old lore, in which he was hunting Soraka to get her heart as an ingredient for a potion to get back his human body.

If my theory is just slightly true, then I think that it has some nice parallels to this former story. The old Warwick was looking for a specific woman (Soraka) to purify himself from his beastly body. The new Warwick was looking for a specific woman (Jinx) to get redemption for the beast his former self used to be.

I know, it was a really long post. But I feel satisfied, I think that maybe this sheds some light on events we didn't know much about.

What do you guys think? Could I be right and Warwicks tragedy is rooting even deeper in the past than we knew? Or do I just have a shimmer overdose?

My personal guess is that Warwick, as a gangster, was assigned to murder a not-yet-insane Jinx's parents. Upon finding her parents dead, Jinx snapped... and perhaps proceeded to set her residence (house/apartment) ablaze. Does that line up?

Interesting theory, but the explosion at the depths of zaun was confirmed to be caused by Urgot during his escape from the Dredge. My theory about Jinx and Warwick is as follows:

Basically, we know Warwick tried to leave his criminal life behind but we don't know why. My guess is that he came upon a young, orphaned Jinx with whom he eventually fell in love with (in a fatherly manner); thus causing him to want to better himself for her sake. However, Jinx was already a little too obsessed with explosives. Though she never intended to harm anyone, Warwick feared she would get carried away one day and do just that. Fast forward a little bit and Jinx sets off an explosion that starts an unexpected fire. To her horror, people wind up getting caught in the flames... including Warwick who she sees and calls out to. Later an unconscious and injured Warwick is dragged off by Singed to be experimented on; where he has visions of Jinx calling out to him through flames and bodies. This incident of "killing" her father figure along with many others could easily lead to Jinx's insanity. It is still possible that Singed experimented on her and further drove the nail into her coffin, but I'm not so sure of that anymore.

After Jinx's comic and all of that, I feel its the other way around.

In one of her usuall havocs, Jinx accidentally set on fire a building, where someone important for Warwick lived. When he came back, only the fire, and a amused girl that loved explosions and destruction remained, leaving Warwick full of grief and hate, so he started to go stray, and later became a criminal in order to find that slippery mad girl and make her pay.

As we know, some time later, Warwick no longer wanted to be a criminal, he just wanted to forget what caused him so much pain, but the past will always come back

Do you guys think Rito will ever release the full story ? or will this be a mystery forever... cause it feels to me they are just dragging it out now .

Pretty sure it took more than just trauma to crack Jinx. Most likely included experimentation and drugs.

I always thought it was bullshit that jinx was one of singed's subjects, she looks waaay too fine for that.
