Quick Xayah/Rakkan Skins thoughts

I want to be brief with these.

If there's a team that consistently delivers good content to League is the skins team (along with the music team). Even thought I've never cared for the Prestige Golden Chromas (That's all they are) I'm more annoyed at how they're implemented in the loot system, and not so much how they look.

Seeing how creative the team is to make up new stuff for many different champions and seeing how some people are reacting to Rakan having a skin that Xayah doesn't, I just feel I have to share my thoughts about them as a duo moving forward.

Even though Riot said here that they wanna keep em together as much as possible, I'd feel really sad if they had a great concept for either of them that ultimately gets cancelled because they couldn't make it work for the other character.

Someone said this before I did, but I think it's very true: They're lovers, not parasites to each other. I'm not saying I don't like matching skins. I think they're super cute and I often like matching a Support Rakan's look if I'm playing Xayah, but I don't think this should be an unbreakable rule or the only way Xayah and Rakan get skins. I don't think there should be so much of an uproar if either of them get a solo skin every now and then. They're not Kindred. They're not Nunu & Willump or even Riggle and Trist. They're individuals who I'm sure have some traits very different from the other person, cause that's just part of what makes a relationship work. I wouldn't want my boyfriend to match every single dress/pants I wear. In a situation where we both have to be elegant, as long as he looks good I couldn't care less if he's wearing the same colors as I am, though it is still very cute if we end up matching. It's a balance I think.

Even now, if I'm wearing SSG and he's wearing Sweetheart, we still get the lines between them and the shared recall. We know they love each other, they're always showing it in the game no matter what they're wearing. You know, like a healthy relationship does (plus some of their quirks as characters)

Basically I just wish the skin team get total freedom to design skins for either of them. If they can make them a double cool/cute set that works, that's all the better. If they find a concept that they wanna apply only to one of them, let them do it.

tl;dr

  • Xayah and Rakan are individuals. They're lovers, not parasites.
  • It's cute to have matching skins and I'm still looking forward to many more duo sets.
  • It shouldn't be an unbreakable commandment to make a skin for either of them.
  • it's not a big deal if either of them are wearing different outfits.
  • Let skin team do what they decide is best

Thx for reading! Tristana

Still would have preferred if they kept it that way that they just get skins together. It was their shtick, it made them special.

These 2 champions even got released together. I see them as a set and that will never change. Yes, Riot might start to see it that way and give them seperated skins from time to time. I accept that. Doesn't mean I have to like it, tho.

I think its cool for them to get matching skins, but also they are separate beings that are related, not a Lamb Wolf situation. We have to remember that.

Good post, I agree.

I think if Riot is going to make an exception to their "paired skin rule", the Esport skin is where it makes the most sense. Baolan picked Rakan for his skin, Jackylove didn't pick Xayah. It would be silly to force him to pick Xayah just because one of them picked Rakan.

There could be a Forbidden Love set. Demon Xayah and Angel Rakan. I think that would be a cool idea

I think since xayah didnt get a matching this time she deserves an 1820 skin.
