It notes that the Aatrox and the Darkin were of Shuriman origins as their protectors against the Void, but they eventually turned on humanity and became an even bigger threat and were imprisoned, presumably by the aide of the Targon and Zoe, but now aatrox is the first of the freed

It doesn’t actually say that they originated from Shurima. It says that they were in Shurima, to help combat the Void.

It’s entirely possible that they still originated elsewhere and came to Shurima in a time of desperation. It’s also possible that their intentions were never to protect Shurimans and were planning to turn on them from the beginning. You can’t assume too much without having the whole story.

So the darkins were summoned by the shurimans to fight the void, but then went rogue and tried to conquer runeterra themselves, but the aspects gave the humans the means to seal the darkins away. Feels a bit cluttered with all these different factions involved, but also shows just how dangerous the darkins really were.

Though I dunno whats the deal with Kayle and Morgana,he mentions that Kayle is not worthy of ascension, which made me think that these 2 might be ascended, but then he mentions that Morgana bound herself to this realm(and that she has some sort of bound flesh),which sounds more like they are more similar to aspects.

This confuses me considering Varus's bio alludes to the darkin being from beyond Runeterra:

The mortal mages of Runeterra wielded wild magic, heedless of the consequences beyond their own world. Their reckless use of magic attracted the hunger of the darkin, who sent their fiercest warriors to conquer this new world. Varus traveled to Runeterra with the second wave of invaders, and with his crystalline bow, he assassinated enemy commanders and champions, helping the darkin defeat the mortal armies with ever greater ease.

I mean potentially Shurima summoned the darkin to defend against the Void, and after it's fall became fixated on conquering it, and opened the way for more of their kin to come through? Fight fire with fire but then not put out that fire you used?

I'm intruiged to see where this goes but atm I'm scratching my head a bit.

That.... doesn't add up.

So the Darkin come into the timeline after the fall of Icathia. If they're affiliated with Shurima it really makes me think Setaka was the warrior queen mentioned in Varus' lore.

I'm glad the universe is starting to have a basic storyline with everything connected rather than tons of isolated apocalypses.

I almost think that the Targonians were maybe jealous/afraid of the Darkin and therefore the trickster gave them the knowledge/ability to get rid of the Darkin.

I think Darkin aren't of this world or dimension, as hinted by some of the things he says like to Kayle & Morg, but weren't enemies of it. Targonians are continually kind of being hinted at being a villainous role, at least the real Aspects, not necessarily our Leona, Diana etc.

I dunno, I'm actually really excited about this Darkin info, I think it ties a lot more areas and chunks of lore together, or at least will.

This is not so hard to understand guys. Darkin came through Targon to aid the Shurimans against the Void. In the first wave Aatrox came. After Shurima Fell second wave came with Varus and the Darkin Wars happened due to the power vaccum on Runeterra nad Darkin having no ascended and sun disk threatening them. They did not however factor in Aspect of Twilight and Targon betraying them for Runeterras safety.
