Ancient Freljord

I've been thinking about some topics that I'd love to know more about and I really want to know about ancient Freljord! Sadly despite lore being released every 2 weeks I still feel like it's too slow and I want to know more about certain things so Im left with rare rioter comments on that topic, few info's and most of all my imagination (which I hope to be somewhat correct). Now I'll be looking at some lore that is outdated so some info may be incorrect including terminology. Plus remember there is so little info on what Im talking about so Im trying to scrap every info I have together :)

Golden Age We know that ancient Freljord was united under the Three. In this age Avarosa, Serylda and Lissandra fought together as it was a prosperous time. They battled many enemies and conquered many territories including some land where todays new factions stand! Most of Demacia belonged to ancient Freljord aswell as most of Noxus and the land between them. Atgo actually had an idea that Delverhold used to be a part of Freljord and that actually makes perfect sense. Altough this time was prosperous, they still had to beware of monsters, wild magic aswell the treaterous cold albeit there was not as much snow back then as there is now. If you're asking yourself why they ruled and not someone else, well even then danger lurked everywhere powerful Iceborn were needed for protection and the culture was still based on a matriarchal POV. The three Empires Now after that golden age,which was ruled by united Iceborn sisters, came a time when the empire fractured into three. I do not know why they split, we know that Lissandra loved her sisters and there is no reason to doubt that they also loved her. Through stories it is revealed that Serylda was the middle sister not necessarily by age but by her stance as Lissandra and Avarosa probably argued more and Serylda was caught inbetween. This relation is also mirrored by the three empires and the way they split map- wise. Now split, every sister had her own empire. The tribes of each of the sisters battled each other, peace perished. Recent Freljord After the watchers came all empires crumbled and unity was a thing of the past. Serylda and Avarosa were dead(or so we believe) their empires reduced to broken tribes and Lissandra had given up on hers as she established her cult in the Frostguard Citadel. Anyhow, every empire was lost as tribes now ruled Freljord. Lissandra made her cult, she created a different religion and culture, something completely new but still shaped by freljords view on society and rule. This cult also has a new concept of ranks, orders. She faked her own death and ruled the Frostguard as she shapeshifted through many forms. History rewritten, nobody knows that one of the Three is alive and well, as mistress of the Frostguard. This version of Freljord feels colder,darker and very dangerous. That's it! This is just my idea on how the land was back then. I am hopeful that we will get a timeline this year then we will probably know more about this topic.

I'm also quite interested in the history of the Freljord. It's a bit of a shame that it's a bit more vague about what happened in the past.

Do we know for a fact that Lissandra, Avarosa, and Serylda split into three empires, or is that just guessing? Because Lissandra's lore doesn't really mention the actual empire splitting up - just that there were quarrels.

Also to my knowledge, Riot has been quite vague about whether there even WAS a giant empire under the Three Sisters. It's not mentioned in Lissandra's lore either, but some Rioters have mentioned it. So it's a bit confusing to be missing out on pieces of lore here and there.

Also: Something that should be noted is the conflicts each sister was involved in that ended with them losing a part of themselves. Serylda faced "the heavens" (which may be Targon?) and lost her voice. Avarosa faced the Void (at least it implied so) and lost her hearing. Lissandra faced the gods of the land itself and was blinded (by Volibear, perhaps). I'm especially intrigued by what Avarosa and Serylda did. What happened exactly? And more importantly, will this affect Ashe and Sejuani in the present now?

I want to notice that the current land of the Freljord vaguely resembles the shape of a bird like Anivia could be.

I'm sure it's just an artistic coincidence but I find that intriguing.

This is neat!

Sadly, i can’t really comment on this. As obviously discovering the “truth” of the freljord’s past is a part of exploring the current story’s themes. (What is destiny? does it exist? How does your past create you and the future). But why is Lissandra the way she is? What does she really want? What was the old empire? Who was Avarosa? Etc.. these are the right questions.

Very interesting. Maybe because Lissandra's empire "survived" in some way, the Frostguard is still the big ass fortress that it is instead of falling to ruins and getting abandoned, and why Lissandra's forces are mainly consited out of Iceborns, which are very well trained, Draklorns, and super elite Iceborns like the ones in Eye of the Abyss. Basically, some aspects of her old empire survived into the administration and military and culture of Frostguard.
