Okay, so a lot of people are upset about Ekko's lore. I've read the Riot responses about the outrage. Overall, my opinion is fairly neutral. I believe it makes him very adaptable and gives the community time to share ideas. Anyway, I've written what I believe to be the story behind the Boy who Shattered Time. At the end of the story, I will annotate the piece and give reasons for using those details and why the story flowed the way it did. Thank you! Please enjoy!

Ekko, The Boy Who Shattered Time

Piltover, the City of Progress, is the technological hub of Runeterra. Here, the greatest minds have existed and created and coexisted.

Ekko was the apprentice of his talented parents---engineers who for years for revered for the great skill in design and innovation. They were the pinnacle of success in the always-moving city. The boy had inherited his parents' gifts of creation and wit. He was clever, fast, and ingenious. No other child could create the inventions he made in the time he had. He was ordered to be trained as Piltover's Chief Engineer, the same role his father held.

When Ekko's father was to receive the greatest honor in recognition of completing the tallest building in Runeterra, a terrible plot took place. The corrupt police force had charged the family for creating illegal weapons and giving them to Zaun. They were to be immediately executed without warning--the family threats to all the citizens of Piltover. In the protection of shorter structure, a sniper sat within the shadows and killed Ekko's beloved parents. As he watched them die, he found a bullet entering his own chest. But as Ekko faded from life, a mysterious white figure appeared before him. Time had stopped. Suddenly, a golden halo gave him another breath. But he blacked out.

When he awoke, his lungs were filled with the thick air of a dirty city. He was covered in grime and filth. His entire fortune, gone, stolen by the injustices he was given. He had nothing. Ekko, the boy who was destined to eliminate Zaun, now found himself in the doorstep of an enemy he knew nothing about.

The orphan was taken in by a ruthless gang who spent their time roughing up the Piltover Police. But as he became wreckless, his hands that had once crafted inventions for saving lives now forged weapons of destruction. As he saw the police decimate his new family, he became aware of a new sense. Something he had never felt before. Feeling as though he was running out of time, he scrambled together scraps of loose parts. He then created a small device that could let him change the recent past. He made it his mission to show the Piltover Police what it means to be out of time. And to protect the other lost children and show them the true meaning behind changing your fate.

He now makes the most out of borrowed time.

Okay so now that the piece is finished I'm going to go through and annotate why I wrote some of it.

Piltover, the City of Progress, is the technological hub of Runeterra. Here, the greatest minds have existed and created and coexisted. In the teaser trailer, we are revealed to a pair of broken glasses. They appear to either be made from Zaun or Piltover, but somehow we have to explain why some of Ekko's quotes are negative towards Piltover, so I decided to go with Piltover.

This paragraph basically explains where Ekko got his ability to build sophisticated machines. Like Zilean, who spent a very long time as an old man meditating about time manipulation, Ekko needed some sort of "inspiration" behind his ability to make a decent-looking machine.

Another problem faced is that in the video, a memorial of what appears to be a boy and his family is shown (the family is lightly shaded in the background is seems). This leads me to think that somehow he was eliminated from a mainstream society. Was a he killed? Also, a symbol exists in the video. Notice the candles. They are smoking as if they have been lit, then they reignite. Like life has been returned. So I created a fantasy where a figure "saved" Ekko (Zilean ) despite the fact that Zilean can't intervene while in chrono-dysplasia (a flaw in my lore). So its like Zilean, who is hinted by Ekko by the quote as being the future him (even though Zilean lived before Ekko), "I really hope you're not the future me.", chrono-shifted Ekko to save the future Zilean or just Ekko. Doesn't matter really. Perhaps that piece about chrono-dysplasia could be removed? Just a suggestion. Also, Zilean and Ekko share a similar quote: "I've seen your future - Zilean It was painful - EKKO "and it's got broken bones."

_This is nothing more than a tie-in to show how Ekko is in Zaun and why he hates the Pilties. The quote: "Run away, little Piltie!", shows his hatefulness to the Piltover Police. He feels as though he lost his future because of them, based on the lore. _

**The orphan was taken in by a ruthless gang who spent their time roughing up the Piltover Police.

He now makes the most out of borrowed time.** This just gives a reason to how the device was made and why he saves the lost children, so it ties in with the original story. Though the lost children part could be easily eliminated without changing the context of the paragraph.

I hope you enjoyed my story and please leave comments! It was a quick write but I had it on my mind so I had to write it and share. Thanks for reading!
