Swain's Cane

I apologize if this question has already been asked, at the time of writing the story, art, & sound board is broken and refuses to show any posts.

But why was the decision made to remove Swain's cane? While I personally do not mind, a friend of mine considers it one of the many major aspects of his character that made him interesting. The idea that Swain could be the ultimate ruler of Noxus, an entire nation and culture focused entirely on strength and dominance, despite being physically crippled and requiring a cane was incredibly moving to him. Now that it is gone, he is distraught (despite my attempts to explain new Swain's other merits and similarities to old Swain).

So, to repeat the question, why was the cane removed?

I think you already answered your own question.

Swain is the ruler of a nation that values might over anything else. The mere appearance of weakness didn't make a whole lot of sense; I see the theme that you're getting at, but I think Noxus is the wrong place to explore it. He's still missing a limb, but the strength in what he gained in its place makes him more fit to rule, not less. It's more consistent with his character now.

2 things

1.) How clunky was his hobbling when he got pushed super fast with speed buffs or homeguards? It was awkward and clunky. Only way to fix that would be eventually having him lose the cane as he starts getting faster, but that would reveal a few clarity issues.

2.) Watch his dance. You won't be disappointed.

context wise, it didn't make sense for Swain to keep being crippled forever, he is a person of power in a world filled with magic and hextech, and leads an army that is in constant war. (If we were talking about a poor champion it would make sense to be crippled for ever but even in the real world peopple with enough resources wear orthopedic limbs) It makes sense lore wise, that he worked around a missing limb. we already have the augmented Camille Viktor Urgot , so is good in Runeterra context they did something different with him.

While i'm not sure what they'll be doing on the lore front, I do think they waste a lot of opportunity and potential when re-working older champions. They frequently bear little resemblance to who they once were in terms of lore, though sometimes they have shades in their art and theme.

A good analogy to RIOT's process in other terms? You take batman. Then you make it so that his parents never died, and he just decided to fight crime because he thought it would be fun and he has the money to get away with it. Also, he kills people too.

Well actually Swain was faking his limb. The tyrant skin used to be canon and it shows him walking without the limb.
