Riot had Lux sink her own ship with Ezreal, so it begs the question as to what kind of person Lux would ideally fall in love with. Probably not one of the stuck-up nobles from Demacia who would turn on her the moment they learn she's a mage, I imagine.
It's not really sunk. It's just that currently the lore Riot is working on is foundations stuff, which means that a teenaged girl who has just started her secret magic missions for Demacia, she hasn't left the region, so she hasn't met Ezreal.
So it's not so much "canceled" as it is "To be decided"

Personally, I thought it was made kinda clear that Lux didn't share the idea of being shipped with Ezreal through her interaction. It's somehow funny and stuff but I never liked the ship and I was like "Oh so, it made no sense in fact ? Well, it's ok"
I think it's kinda weird to necessarily ship characters for the sake of it, even more when it makes no sense and that the character are kinda young. Like Taliyah, Ekko or Zoe for instance. It can be funny and it's not really a problem in fact. Just that it needs some build up. I didn't say that I'm not into ships. Like, Quinn/Shyvana x J4 is pretty good yeah (Shyvana x Jarvan is actually really cute, potentially a beautiful thing to develop )

Its not sunk bruh. Its just that riot is completely tiding things up for a bit. They're finishing up removing old lore and replacing it with a new one before the could release a progressive story (although they releases advance plot stories sometimes like the MF comic).
